Compassionate definition

Compassionate means: (1) the illness or injury of a member of the employee’s immediate family, requiring the employee’s personal attention; or (2) the care by a health provider of the employee’s child or spouse or presence where the employee’s personal attention or attendance is necessary.
Compassionate requests refer to an employee’s desire to arrange long-term care provisions or provide palliative care for a dependant, parent, spouse or child. Such leave may be extended upon presentation of medical evidence supporting the request.
