Clinical Assistant definition

Clinical Assistant means an individual qualified by academic education and clinical experience or training to provide patient care services in a clinical or supportive role. Clinical Assistants provide services only under the supervision of an employing or sponsoring member of the Medical Staff, or as otherwise permitted by law. Clinical Assistants are not members of the Medical Staff or the Advanced Practice Professional Staff and are not granted Clinical Privileges. A Clinical Assistant is an individual, other than a Practitioner and Advanced Practice Professional, who is: (i) licensed, certified and/or adequately trained to render health care services under the supervision of a Medical Staff Member; and (ii) authorized by the Medical Center to provide direct health care services at the Medical Center. The disciplines included in the Clinical Assistant category include, but are not limited to: Registered Nurses (RNs); Surgical Assistants; Cardiovascular Perfusionists; Pathologist Assistants; Radiology/Ultrasound Technicians; Research Scientists; and Surgical Technicians.
