Birth room means a room and environment designed, equipped and arranged to provide for the care of a maternal patient and newborn and to accommodate a maternal patient's support person during the process of vaginal birth and recovery. "Birth room" does not include rooms intended for pre-admittance or post-discharge accommodations of maternal patients and their newborns.
