Beginning July. 1, 2004, a union member requesting and qualifying for an FMLA leave may only get pay chargeable against the teacher’s absence day allowance and/or accumulation for: personal illness, personal injury, disability, or other reasons approved by the Superintendent (per Articles 14.0 and 14.7.1). FMLA approved leaves for other than such personal qualifying conditions shall be unpaid.

Beginning July. 1, 2005, less than full-time bargaining unit members who are at least fifty- five (55) years of age with at least five (5) years of services in the District and who have participated in the District’s health and welfare plan continuously for the immediate 24 months preceding retirement, may purchase a health and welfare package (health, dental and vision) at the retiree rates. Bargaining unit members must elect benefits within the required election period, as defined by the insurance carriers. For part-time bargaining unit members who are at least fifty-five (55) years of age with at least fifteen (15) years of service in the District and who have participated in the District’s health and welfare plan continuously for the immediate 24 months preceding retirement, the District shall contribute a prorata share toward a group health package (medical, dental, and vision). The prorata share shall be determined by the number of hours assigned to the affected bargaining unit member at the time of retirement as the numerator, divided by the number of hours in a full-time assignment. (For example, the District would contribute up to 50% of the contribution defined in Article 7.6.1 for a 4-hour bargaining unit member towards the health and welfare package (health, dental and vision). Bargaining unit members must elect benefits within the required election period, as defined by the insurance carriers.

Beginning July. 1, 2016, a part time unit member who is on duty and serves as a unit member for at least seventy-five percent (75%) of the days school is in session in any school year shall receive credit for one (1) year of service toward advancement on the salary schedule. This requirement can be achieved over two (2) consecutive school years. “On duty” is any instructional day that a unit member is receiving an amount equal to his/her per diem rate of pay (including on personal leave, workers’ compensation leave, etc.) for his/her job position.
