Basal Area (BA) the cross section area of a tree stem in square feet commonly measured at breast height (4.5' above ground) and inclusive of bark, usually computed by using dbh or tallied through the use of basal area factor angle gauge or a factored prism. Only trees with 7.0” dbh and above will be counted when determining leave basal area. Clumps: 2-5 > 7.0” dbh leave trees (unless noted in individual prescription) with ▇▇▇▇▇ within 0- 20’ measured stem face to stem face at dbh. Created Openings: 3 or more contiguous acres with less than 20 TPA. Boundary of opening will be measured from last leave tree at opening edge to determine acreage of opening. Diameter at Breast Height (dbh): measured at 4.5 feet above the natural forest floor on the high side of the tree, rounded down to the nearest 1/10th inch. receiving full light from above and partly from the sides.
