Back-up Generation definition

Back-up Generation means fossil-fueled back-up generation owned or used by a Customer including but not limited to the following: (i) distributed generation technologies using diesel, natural gas, gasoline, propane or liquefied petroleum gas, whether or not in a combined heat and power configuration. Back-up Generation does not include energy storage systems; provided such energy storage systems meet the greenhouse gas emission factor thresholds in effect from time to time under the CPUC’s Self-Generation Incentive Program.
Back-up Generation means fossil-fueled back-up generation owned or used by a Customer including but not limited to the following: (i) distributed generation technologies using diesel, natural gas, gasoline, propane or liquefied petroleum gas, whether or not in a excluding pressurereduction turbines and bottomingin topping cycle combined heat and power (“CHP”) or non- CHP configurations, exempting the following resources: pressure reduction turbines and waste- heat-to-power bottoming cycle CHP. Back-up Generation does not include energy storage systems, including storage coupled with renewable generation; provided such energy storage systems meet the greenhouse gas emission factor thresholds in effect from time to time under the CPUC’s Self-Generation Incentive Program. [The following programs for residential Customers are exempt from the prohibition: air conditioner cycling programs, permanent load shifting programs, schedule load reduction programs, the optional binding mandatory curtailment, time of use rates, critical peak pricing, real time pricing, and peak time rebate.]
