Avian;. The Contractor shall conduct avian (bird) inventory/surveys. Avian inventory/surveys may include but are not limited to line transects, point counts, focused surveys, walking (meandering) surveys and presence/absence surveys. Play-back surveys using avian recordings and sound equipment such as game callers may be required along with any survey. Contractors should have general knowledge of birds in the geographic areas where surveys may take place, and ability to identify birds visually or audibly. Location, number and length of transects, number, location and spacing of point count stations, play-back protocols and area covered by the meandering surveys and all other methods shall be determined in coordination with the TOCOR prior to field work or as specified by the CTO. Habitat types where avian surveys may be conducted may include but are not limited to native or non-native forests, grasslands, shrublands, savannas, wetlands, and coastal areas. Surveys may focus on any or all species present including but not limited to passerines, raptors, waterbirds and seabirds. The Contractor shall propose survey methodology and data collection and analysis techniques to the TOCOR prior to field work or as specified by the CTO. Depending on the CTO requirements, avian survey reports may include, but are not limited to, species of birds detected, numbers of birds detected, detection locations, species range, roosting locations, relative abundance, density and population estimates.
