Assertion means the bringing or initiating of any such action.

Assertion means the submission by the Provider of an Assured Customer identity to any Relying Party via the Hub in accordance with this Contract, in response to a request for such Assured Customer identity from the Hub, and “Asserted” shall be construed accordingly. “Assertion Period” means a period of 365 days commencing on the day of an Identity Assertion. “Assurance” means the assurance of a Customer identity to Level of Assurance 2 (as defined in GPG 44 and GPG 45) by the Provider pursuant to and in accordance with this Contract, and “Assured” shall be construed accordingly. “Identity Assertion” means the first Assertion in an Assertion Period of an Assured Customer identity by the Provider to the Hub, in response to an Authentication request from the Hub, where the Customer identity is identified uniquely by the Provider by a PID. “Invoice Period” has the meaning ascribed to it in paragraph 2.2 of Part B of this Schedule 4 (Prices and Rates). “Charges” means the total amount (exclusive of VAT) set out in any invoice issued by the Provider and billed to the Authority in respect of the Services properly performed by the Provider during an Invoice Period which is calculated as follows:Charges = Payment Rate x number of Payment Events in an Invoice Period. “Fraud Warning” means the notification to the Authority by the Provider of the detection by the Provider of fraudulent activity in the identity Verification process as set out in GPG 45 and the OPSM from time to time, in response to an Authentication request by the Hub. “Payment Ceiling” means the maximum number of Payment Events within the Contract Period as set out in paragraph 2(2). “Payment Event” means an Identity Assertion and/or Fraud Warning but
