As Cast. Obligations to Actor. If in the contract of a Principal Actor, a part is not specified, then unless Equity shall otherwise order, the Principal Actor shall only be required to appear and perform in the part or parts in which Actor makes Actor's first public appearance. (1) A Principal Actor may be employed "As Cast" only if Actor is signed to a Standard Minimum Contract and the production is a new work or a new concept of an old work. (a) When Actor is hired "As Cast," the Producer must designate at least one-half of the parts the Actor may perform on the Actor's contract. (b) An Actor hired "As Cast" may terminate Actor's employment during the rehearsal period without penalty by giving the appropriate termination notice. (2) If a Principal Actor is employed to "Understudy-As-Cast," all the provisions of 16(D)(1) above apply except that Actor shall not be required to appear and perform or understudy in any part (or parts) other than the part or parts Actor was assigned to understudy no later than the day following the first two weeks after the opening of the play at Point of Organization or four weeks after the first paid public performance on tour. The re-assignment of understudy parts contemplated by this paragraph shall not be applicable in the event the Actor and the Producer have agreed to a specific understudy part (or parts) in the original contract of employment. (3) The provisions of paragraphs 16(D)(1) and 16(D)(2) shall not be applicable to revues. (4) The Actor shall be permitted to accept assignments other than those originally played or assigned provided that, when assigned, they are designated on a rider to the Actor's contract and additional compensation is negotiated for each assignment.
As Cast. Prohibited. For the purposes of this agreement, “As Cast” is a designation that is intended to allow the Producer to assign additional roles and duties subsequent to the signing of contract. All roles and duties must be specified in the Actor or Stage Manager's contract at the time of signing. Additional roles and duties may only be added by way of a mutually agreed- to, signed rider to the Equity contract and under the terms and conditions provided for in this agreement, including all additional payments due. No Actor or Stage Manager will be required to perform duties other than those for which they are properly contracted under an Equity contract.

Examples of As Cast in a sentence

  • The maximum number of roles which an Artist may be assigned shall be stipulated in the Artist's contract if any Understudy assignments are "As Cast".

  • Notwithstanding the above, in no event shall an "As Cast" assignment be used to include an Understudy assignment unless so indicated on the face of the contract in the space provided for Understudy assignments.

  • If the Actor agrees to appear in a production "As Cast", the part or parts assigned and performed at the first public performance shall be deemed the Actor's assignment for that production.

  • If an Actor agrees to an "As Cast" Understudy assignment, the parts and/or actors he/she is to understudy must be designated, in the form of a rider to the Actor's contract no later than fourteen (14) days after the first public performance but in no event later than three (3) days following the official opening.

  • All plays must be specified in the Artist's contract along with the Artist's assignment in the plays which in the case of the Actor may be "As Cast".
