Alkaloid definition

Alkaloid means the compounds, commonly referred to as true alkaloids, that contain a nitrogen heterocycle and originate from amino acids included in the following classes of compounds: pyrrolidine derivatives, tropane derivatives, pyrrolizidine derivatives, piperidine derivatives, quinolizidine derivatives, indolizidine derivatives, pyridine derivatives, isoquinoline derivatives, oxazole derivatives, isoxazole derivatives, thiazone derivatives, quinazoline derivatives, acridine derivatives, quinoline derivatives, indole derivatives, imadazole derivatives, and purine derivatives.
