When the Employer is aware that a client/resident has a history of aggressive behaviour, the Employer will make such information available to the employee. Where employees may be at risk from aggressive behaviour, in-service and/or instruction on how to respond to aggressive behaviour will be provided by the Employer. The Occupational Health and Safety Committee shall be consulted on the curriculum. Where a risk of injury to employees from violence is identified in accordance with Section 8.90 of the Protection of Workers from Violence in the Workplace Regulations, the Employer will, in consultation with the Committee, establish appropriate physical and procedural measures to eliminate or, where that is not possible, minimize risk. The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to ensure that sufficient staff are present when any such treatment or care is provided. It is understood that this provision is at no cost to the employee. Where community resources are available, critical incident stress defusing shall be made available and known to employees who have suffered a serious work-related traumatic incident of an unusual nature. Leave to attend such a session will be without loss of pay.
