Independent Study is for the purpose of studies which are not incorporated into the curricula of regular classes. Students are encouraged to enroll in regularly scheduled courses whenever possible. Many studio courses may be repeated for additional credit. Independent Study may not be used to add additional credit to an existing course. The student is restricted to no more than one Independent Study per semester. One credit of Independent Study requires 3 hours of work per week for 15 weeks, or 45 hours of work. (3 credits = 9 hours per week, or 135 hours of work) Faculty contact is defined as 3 hours per 1 credit per semester (3 credits = 9 hours contact), with meeting times arranged.

I am aware that the above named program exposes my child, a minor, to the risks of injury from various activities including, but not limited to, summer residency, monthly Saturday workshops, special events, study hall, travel, and sports activities including swimming. These activities involve risks and potential injury, including, but not limited to, death, drowning, serious neck and spinal injuries resulting in complete or partial paralysis, brain damage, and serious injury to virtually all bones, joints, muscles, and internal organs, and that equipment provided for my child's protection may be inadequate to prevent serious injury. I understand while attending the above named program, following directions, rules and regulations will minimize the risk for the other participants and my child.
