Most insurance plans only allow 30 days for members to enroll their newborn to the policy. Some employers will tell you that they cannot be added until you receive a birth certificate or social security card, but you will still need to notify the insurance company prior to receiving these documents. If you receive a bill after the first month, there is a possibility that there is a problem with your child being added to the insurance plan; or that they have been added to a plan that we DO NOT accept. If you have not received an insurance card within the first 2 months, that may also be a sign that something is wrong. Enrollment in a Health Plan is ultimately the responsibility of the patient and you will be held accountable for any balance resulting from failure to select a plan. Please help us make this a smooth transition to prevent you from owing a large balance for services rendered.
