Since 2008, Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) funding has been allocated to provide enhanced snow removal service, beyond what the County allocates in its annual fiscal budget for all County roads receiving snow removal services, on County roads leading to the ski resort areas at Northstar, Alpine Meadows, and Olympic Valley to enhance safety and improve the visitor experience. The Department of Public Works (DPW) has been responsible for distributing an annual amount of $100,000 to the ski resorts. For FY 2023/24, $150,000 in TOT has been budgeted in the Tahoe Economic and Community Enhancement fund to reflect the increased cost of snow removal services since 2008.
