Waistband. The trouser will be made with the Freedom Fit® waistband system, which is designed to provide the wearer with a more comfortable and better fitting trouser. The waistband shall be constructed using the "closed method" and shall measure a minimum of 1-7/8" wide when finished. The waistband closure shall be accomplished with a single crush proof hook and eye centered on the waistband for maximum wearer comfort. The hook and eye shall be reinforced with 7/8-inch non-woven stay tape that is anchored with topstitching through and through to the top of the waistband (bartacks in place of topstitching shall be cause for rejection). In addition to the stitching of the waistband when it is set onto the trouser, the waistband must also be topstitched below the waistband seam through the waistband curtain for added strength. The back center seam of the trouser to be finished to allow for alterations (with ample basic trouser fabric and waistband curtain material to allow trouser size to be increased at least one size). The outlet in the seat is to be in proportion to waist outlet so seat may also be let out. Seat seam must be sewn with a tandem needle machine (double-needle stitch) for maximum strength. The waistband curtain is composed of two elastic components, which give it two-zone comfort fit and breathability. The top part of the waistband curtain is interlined with a 1-1/2” elastic band that has two functions. It stabilizes the waistband, preventing waistband rollover, and allows for a comfort stretch when the wearer bends or sits. This elastic is around the entire waistband and is constructed with an open weave to allow for breathability. The specification for the upper elastic is as follows: Width 1 ½” Overall content: 38% Polyester, 45% Nylon, 17% Spandex Stretch: 20% The upper part or the waistband curtain interlining (elastic band) is to be lined in black (the same color as the pocketing material) and it shall be cut on a 45-degree bias to allow for maximum stretch. The waistband basic trouser fabric shall be cut across the cloth to allow for maximum stretch in synergy with the Freedom Fit Waistband. The lower part of the waistband shall also be black and is designed to stretch over the hips for comfort and helps keep the trouser positioned properly on the waist. Waistband. The waistband shall be 2” wide and shall be closed with a crush-proof hook and eye, the eye being bar tacked for stability. The waistband curtain shall have Snugtex and shall be 50% cotton/50% polyester twill with PRES-TU-LAST FINISH, the color being compatible with outer goods, and shall be attached with a xxxxx machine.
Waistband. The waistband shall be elasticized, split at the side seams, and shall have matte black ligne 22 metal snaps. The split shall be approximately 6 ½” long vertically (size Large/Reg) and shall work to allow access to pant pockets on each side. There shall be two female black, oxidized snaps attached the waistband at the top of the split on each side. One female snap shall be approximately ½ inch from the edge of the split and the other approximately 3” away to allow for waist adjustment. There shall be one male ligne 22 oxidized snap placed on the corresponding side of the split on each side for attachment. All male snaps shall be reinforced with plastic to prevent the fabric from pulling out.
Waistband. The waist area of the trousers shall be reinforced on the inside with a separate piece of black aramid outer shell material not less than two inches in width. Neoprene coated cotton/polyester shall be sewn to the back of the waistband as a reinforcement to create a three-layer protection. The top edge of the waistband reinforcement shall be double stitched to the outer shell at the top of the trousers. The lower edge of the waistband shall be serged and unattached to the shell to accept the thermal liner and moisture barrier. The top of the thermal liner and moisture barrier shall be secured to the underside of the waistband reinforcement so as to be sandwiched between the waistband reinforcement and outer shell to reduce the possibility of liner detachment while donning and to avoid pass through of snaps from the outer shell to the inner liner. The independent waistband construction affords greater comfort and fit than a turned and stitched method. Trousers that do not include an independent waistband only serve to save the manufacturer both money and labor and shall be considered unacceptable.
