Common use of Voluntary Demotion Clause in Contracts

Voluntary Demotion. An employee may make a request in writing to the Appointing Authority for a demotion from a position in one (1) classification to a vacant position in a classification of a lower rank for which the employee is qualified. If the Appointing Authority approves the request, the employee so demoted may, at a later date, request that their name be placed on an appropriate list for reemployment to the higher classification. (See Letter of Agreement 00.00-99-51 in Appendix A.)
