Vacation Periods. Vacation schedules will be set by the employee’s immediate supervisor(s) and sent to the Office of Human Resources for approval. Employees may request a particular period for vacation. Vacation days may not be taken in advance of their accrual. Those employees who are on a 12-month teacher contract are paid during Spring Break and Winter Recess, however, are not expected to be in attendance or perform duties during those breaks.

Vacation Periods. Vacation shall be taken at times selected by employees, subject to supervisory approval. Within a Department, choice of available vacation time shall be determined by time in the Department provided the request is submitted at least thirty (30) days in advance of the vacation period. Once a vacation request has been approved, that request shall be honored and an employee with more time in the department shall not bump another employee from taking an approved vacation. Specific vacation request procedures may be implemented by Departments. While the Employer may limit the number of employees who may be gone at any one time based on staffing needs, the Employer shall not limit by procedure or rule the amount of earned vacation leave any one employee can take at any one time. The designated or appropriate administrator shall give reasonable consideration to vacation requests and shall respond promptly to any request and respond to any request submitted at least thirty (30) days in advance within five (5) calendar days of receipt of the written request. Any employee who is about to lose vacation leave because he/she has been denied a vacation request made in accordance with a department's leave policy and will therefore reach the maximum accumulation, shall be entitled to take one week of vacation to prevent such loss upon advance notice of seven (7) calendar days to his/her supervisor, or shall be allowed to cash out one (1) week of vacation.
Vacation Periods. Vacations shall be taken at times selected by employees provided such requests are submitted to the employee's supervisor in writing, at least sixty (60) calendar days prior to the effective date of the vacation period but not more than one-hundred twenty (120) calendar days prior to the effective date of the vacation period on forms provided by the Employer. Supervisors shall post all vacation requests for five (5) calendar days in all work areas affected before approving or denying any such requests. Any employee who desires to have vacation during the period posted must submit a written request to the supervisor during the posting. When the five (5) day posting ends, within five (5) calendar days, the supervisor shall approve or disapprove all vacation requests in the work location in order of greatest classification seniority. Approvals shall not be unreasonably withheld. An employee who believes their request was unreasonably withheld shall have the right to file a grievance at Step 3. Such grievance meetings shall be scheduled within ten (10) working days after the grievance is filed. Vacation requests submitted with less than sixty (60) days advance notice shall be considered on a first request priority basis, without regard to seniority. No vacation shall be approved with less than sixty (60) days notice unless those employees who have requested vacation with more than sixty (60) days notice and have been denied are given the opportunity in classification seniority order to take vacation for any part of the vacation period which was earlier requested and denied. Except for emergencies, the Employer shall not have the right to change an employee's vacation schedule once their vacation request has been approved. When advance written requests are impractical, employees shall request the approval of their supervisor by telephone or other means at the earliest opportunity. Supervisors shall respond to all vacation requests within five (5) calendar days.
Vacation Periods. The summer vacation period extends from May 1 to September 30 of each year. The winter vacation period extends from October 1 to April 30 of the following year, exclusive of the period beginning on the Sunday after Thanksgiving and ending on December 25.

All freshman Residents must vacate campus housing during vacation periods regardless of where they live unless the Resident receives written approval from the Department of Residential Life. The University reserves the right to enter student housing during vacation periods for maintenance or safety reasons. Residents may leave their personal belongings in their assigned room during these periods at their own risk if they will continue residing in the room after the vacation period. Special requests for hardship housing during these vacation periods must be submitted in writing to and approved in writing by the Department of Residential Life. If the University does make space available for students during vacation breaks, it may require those students to move to different residence halls during such periods. Additional charges of $65 per night will be made for housing (i.e. room only) during these times. Prices are subject to increase.

Vacation Periods. You may not occupy your room later than 24 hours after your last instructional period/exam of the semester without prior approval from residence life staff for your hall. All residence halls will be closed beginning at noon (12:00 p.m.) on December 21, 2018 and all services normally provided will be discontinued. Academic year residents who opt for winter break housing and pay an additional fee may reside in our residence halls. All halls remain open during Thanksgiving and spring breaks.
