Vacation Leave Usage. 1. Vacation leave may not be taken without the employee first providing advance written request to his/her supervisor or manager and then receiving the supervisor/manager’s notification that the request has been approved. Vacations should be scheduled as far in advance as reasonably possible in each work unit, and should be staggered over the entire calendar year to the extent reasonable.
