Common use of Vacation Carryover Clause in Contracts

Vacation Carryover. Annual vacation allowance shall be taken during the one (1) year period following the employee’s anniversary date of eligibility. However, operating requirements or special vacation circumstances may occasionally prevent an employee from taking all earned vacation within the anniversary year. When such circumstances arise, an employee may carry over an amount equal to double (2) his/her current annual vacation allowance, subject to the approval of the Employer. Vacation allowance cannot be earned in excess of this amount. For example, an employee with two (2) years of service may carry a maximum for four (4) weeks of vacation allowance (2 weeks x 2) at any given point in time and cannot earn additional vacation allowance until vacation time is utilized.
