Vacated Positions. The SAC will refill vacated positions by holding a special election for that position or by appointing a person for a term not to exceed the AGM. Vacant positions must be refilled by individuals from the same membership group as the person who vacated the position.

Vacated Positions. Notwithstanding Article 12, when an existing Educational Assistant or School Intervention Worker position is vacated after October 15, it shall be afforded to the senior permanent employees on complete lay-off who have the minimum required qualifications for the job (as per the classification specifications), and providing such employees have indicated in writing their willingness to accept such work assignment. When there are no employees on complete lay-off who have the minimum required qualifications for the job (as per the classification specifications), the vacancy may be filled at the discretion of the Employer on a temporary basis until the end of the school year. At the end of the school year, the vacancy will be posted in accordance with Article 12.

Vacated Positions. In the event of a vacated position, new position, or assignment, the School District shall post for five (5) days in each building a written notice of each opening giving qualified teachers in this bargaining unit first opportunity to apply in writing for these positions.

Vacated Positions. Should a vacancy arise, it will be addressed as follows: • Vacancies on the SAC will be filled from the relevant membership group; • Vacancies of fewer than six months’ duration may be filled by school advisory council appointment; • Vacancies of longer than six months’ duration will be filled according to the bylaws governing elections of appointment of the appropriate membership groups to fill the remainder of the vacated term.
