India has been elected to the Executive Board of the first UN-Habitat Assembly. • The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN–Habitat) is the United Nations agency for human settlements and sustainable urban development. • It was established in 1978 as an outcome of the First UN Conference on Human Settlements and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat I) held in Vancouver, Canada in 1976. • It is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. UN-Habitat and ITU warrant that they have not and shall not offer any direct or indirect benefit arising from or related to the implementation of this MoU or the award thereof to any representative, official, employee or other agent of the other Party. The Parties acknowledge and agree that any breach of this provision is a breach of an essential term of this MoU.
UN-Habitat may terminate forthwith this Agreement/Contract at any time should the mandate or the funding of the Project be curtailed or terminated, in which case the Cooperating Entity/Contractor shall be reimbursed by UN-Habitat for all reasonable costs incurred by the Cooperating Entity/Contractor prior to receipt of the notice of termination.
