Types of Activities. Five survey cruises are scheduled during the extension period. These might be subject to change as DORD does not possess any research vessels of its own. They will also be subject to the fiscal and other conditions associated with the budget of the Japanese Government. Resource surveys will involve further sampling by spade type box corer and, if possible, other equipment to take seafloor photographs in the High Abundance Areaa (first generation of mining sites, approximately 5,800 km2) to obtain a detailed understanding of the characteristics of polymetallic nodule distribution in this area and, thereby, to obtain a more accurate estimate of resources, and to collect information about the physical properties of seafloor sediments for use in designing mining equipment. Environmental surveys will involve data collection through further baseline surveys of the High Abundance Area and Preservation Reference Zone and additional samplings in the JET area, where a disturbance test on the seafloor was conducted in 1994. These surveys will be conducted in accordance with the Recommendations for the guidance of contractors for the assessment of the possible environmental impacts arising from exploration for marine minerals in the Area (hereafter a Survey cruises resumed in 2011 targeting the High Abundance Area selected as the first-generation mining sites from among the areas of interest identified by previous surveys, and the Model Area for conducting detailed surveys (200 km2 approximately). The criteria for the selection of the High Abundance Area include a comparatively high abundance of nodule distribution (about 10 kg/m2 or more) and sufficient resources for 20 years of continuous operation. referred to as “ISA environmental guidelines”) and with ongoing advice from technical advisors from the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC). Discussions regarding collaborative work are on-going with L’Institut français de recherche pour l’exploitation de la mer (IFREMER) to undertake surveys more efficiently. The results of resource and environmental surveys are stored on a GIS database and a full station list for each survey cruise will be submitted to the Authority. In relation to mining and processing technology, more in-depth investigations will be undertaken through continued work including experiments on the important elements and technologies associated with system design and finding the optimal process. Consideration will also be given...

Types of Activities. Activities in which volunteers may be engaged in could include any of the following: Listening to pupils read. Supporting pupils in practical lessons. Supporting staff on school trips. Supporting pupils in sports activities. Observing children and teachers. Becoming a Volunteer Volunteers will be advised that completion of the legal requirements / application process can vary but may take up to 3 months. Anyone wishing to work as a volunteer should request a Volunteer Application Pack from Mrs J Waldron, who is responsible for co-ordinating volunteers in school. This should be completed and returned with the necessary original Identity documents to facilitate an Enhanced DBS check (excluding a Barred List check) and for two references to be sought. As part of the application process the school will require the names and addresses of two referees. Previous contact with the referee should be no longer than 6 months. A referee may not be a family member and will preferably be a previous employer or representative of an organisation where the volunteer has previously been established. If this is not possible a character witness from a reliable person will be sought. When two satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS check have been received by the school, a member of the Senior Leadership Team will interview the potential volunteer. A day and time will be agreed and the applicant will be expected to sign a confidentiality agreement as well as other documents (detailed under ‘school expectations’). An entry will be made on the school’s Single Central Record and a file maintained with the confidential details of the volunteer. The file will be retained by school for 7 years after the volunteer resigns from their volunteering responsibilities. The exceptions to this are: Teacher training placements from educational establishment as it is expected that all necessary safeguarding checks have been carried out by the educational establishment before arriving at school. The volunteer will be expected to sign a confidentiality agreement and will not be placed in a class with any family connection. One off volunteers i.e. assisting with a school walk, a fund raising event or a school visit will not require a DBS check but the volunteer will remain under the continuous supervision of a member of staff undertaking a regulated activity, usually the class teacher. Care should be taken to ensure these volunteers do not have sole responsibility for a group of students or pr...
Types of Activities. WRV Volunteer Activities range from evening native seed collections, full-day events involving xxxxxxx running chainsaws, overnight trail-building events, multi-day alpine habitat restoration, youth-centered activities, and much more. Each Volunteer Activity involves a unique set of potential hazards described below. Prior to registering for a WRV Volunteer Activity, I agree to familiarize myself with the likely risks and hazards of that Volunteer Activity and carefully evaluate my ability to safely participate given those challenges. I am aware that WRV provides “ratings” for most Volunteer Activities to assist volunteers in identifying appropriate Volunteer Activities. Ratings contain general information on difficulty, travel distances and other details. I assume full responsibility for selecting projects/programs based upon this or other information, and my mental, physical and emotional preparedness to participate. (initial)
