The Department of Health. The vision of DH is achieving the best health and wellbeing for all Victorians. The department’s role is planning, policy development and funding of health care activities to promote and protect the health of all Victorians. DH includes the portfolios of Health, Mental Health and Aged Care. The principal responsibilities of DH within these portfolios include: • provision of health care services through the public hospital system, community health services and ambulance services; • prevention and health promotion activities through public health and education; • protection of health through emergency management, education and regulation; • provision of services through the public mental health service system, consisting of clinical services and psychiatric disability rehabilitation and support services; and • residential and rehabilitation care for older people, along with support and assistance to enable them to remain independently in their own homes. In ensuring the provision of wide-ranging health services, DH has outlined priority areas that will assist in realising the mission to achieve the best health and wellbeing outcomes for all Victorians: • improve health service performance • provide access to the best health care possible for all Victorians • reform our response to mental health and drugs and alcohol services to meet client needs • strengthen prevention and health promotion • develop our Health System Service and Organisation • respond to an Aging Population • reducing Health Inequalities The Municipal Association of Victoria The MAV is a statutory body established by the Municipal Association Act 1907. The Act vests the MAV with the responsibility to promote the interests of local government and represent all councils. There are 79 councils in Victoria. In this capacity, the MAV has negotiated and entered into this Protocol, on behalf of Victorian local government. The MAV is not a provider of community services. Councils are elected by their communities and have legislative and community responsibility based on an electoral mandate to plan for local areas and to ensure community health and well being. Local government’s power to promote community-based planning and to negotiate resource allocation and service agreements with other spheres of government is principally derived from the Victorian Local Government Act 1989. Xxxxxx shall prepare and submit under separate cover from the Work Plan, a Health and Safety Plan consistent with Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations. The Health and Safety Plan shall be submitted to the Department in the form of one electronic copy on compact disk (in .pdf format). Xxxxxx agrees that the Health and Safety Plan is submitted to the Department only for informational purposes. The Department expressly disclaims any liability that may result from implementation of the Health and Safety Plan by Xxxxxx. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

  • SAFETY & HEALTH The Employer and the IBTCoalition agree that the safety of employees and the general public is of utmost importance. Therefore, the Employer shall provide a safe work environment that is free of recognized hazards that could cause death, injury or illness.
