Teacher on Special Assignment. The position of "teacher on special assignment" has been created to assist staff in the development and implementation of education programs, as directed by the Superintendent. The Superintendent shall have the final authority to assign unit members to this position. The creation of any bargaining unit position, including that of teacher on special assignment, does not mean that such position need be filled. Any assignment to the position of teacher on special assignment shall generally be for the duration of one school year, unless continued for subsequent year(s). Upon completion of such assignment, the bargaining unit member will be reassigned following the procedures outlined in this Article, and in the same manner as applied to a unit member returning from a leave of absence. Bargaining unit members holding the position of teacher on special assignment shall not be required to evaluate staff.

Teacher on Special Assignment. The designation of teacher on special assignment shall be defined as any teacher who voluntarily accepts temporary assignment to administrative or other duties. Teachers on special assignment shall remain members of the bargaining unit.
Teacher on Special Assignment. The position of teacher on special assignment has been established for the purpose of addressing specific needs of the district which are of a temporary nature. The position may be expected to exist for a period of from one (1) semester up to two (2) full years. For the purposes of this contract, all provisions are deemed to apply to the position with the following exception: Any member returning from special assignment in the district shall be assigned to the same position held, including the same building and subject area, prior to the special assignment unless the member seeks and obtains a new position elsewhere in the district. The Superintendent/designee will annually notify any member on special assignment and the Association of the status of the assignment, including the member’s rights under this article.
Teacher on Special Assignment a. Leave for the period up to a full school year shall be granted to one (1) teacher for the certified purpose of providing full-time representation for the Association. This leave will be renewed each year for one (1) year periods, providing that certified request is made each year for the succeeding year prior to the expiration of the then current school year. The Association will purchase one hundred percent (100%) of the BA Step 1 salary for the applicable school year.
Teacher on Special Assignment. A Teacher on Special Assignment is any bargaining unit member relieved of their classroom duties on a part time or fulltime basis for an entire school year to work with the administration on district-wide projects or programs. i.e.– Curriculum Coordinator or Athletic Director. Listed below is additional information regarding teachers selected for this assignment: • Job postings and the selection process will be done according to articles of the ATA contract. • The bargaining unit member will maintain their seniority as it existed before becoming a teacher on special assignment. (As legally required by NYS statute) • The teacher will receive all benefits as outlined in the ATA agreement. • The teacher may be requested by the Superintendent to work up to an additional 20 work days over the summer between June graduation and August 31st. The teacher will be paid an additional months salary using the equation: (Total Salary/10 Months = 11 Month Salary) • In recognition of the additional level of responsibility and necessary skills a teacher on special assignment will assume or demonstrate he/she will receive an additional stipend of: Half Day $2,500 Full Day $5,000
Teacher on Special Assignment. Based on teacher’s Negotiated Agreement salary, including the teacher’s daily rate for additional days beyond the teacher contract. Includes, but is not limited to: instructional coaches; administrative internships; and long-term, interim, or emergency assignments outside the classroom. Teacher on Special Assignment. There is a three (3) year limit on out-of-classroom teacher assignments. Year one (1) of implementation commences the 2016-17 school year. At the conclusion of the three year term, the out-of-classroom position(s) will be reopened and any qualified unit member may apply.
Teacher on Special Assignment. The term “teacher on special assignment” will be used to describe the reassignment of a currently employed teacher into a non-classroom assignment. Special assignment positions exist in order to provide leadership or coordination for an educational program of the District (for example: K-3 Literacy Coach, K-12 Instructional Design Coordinator). The District will post special assignment positions as directed by the Master Contract in Article IX: Instructional Staff Vacancies. Both parties will have the ability to evaluate program/personal needs, and if necessary request a change in assignment. In the event that either the District or the teacher on special assignment wish to end the term of the assignment, notification must be given to the other party, in writing, by March 1st of the year preceding the change. Upon completion of the special assignment, the teacher will be assigned to the position formerly held, if available, or to a position of comparable status. The teacher(s) on special assignment will receive a stipend amount of $3,000.00 added into his/her contract during the term of the special assignment.
Teacher on Special Assignment. The Teacher on Special Assignment will be a one-year assignment of 190 work days. The daily rate would be based on a 184-day contract year. The District will guarantee a teaching assignment upon re-entering the classroom. Every effort will be made by the District to retain the same teaching assignment that was vacated by the Teacher on Special Assignment. The following conditions would apply to the position of Teacher on Special Assignment: All permanent teachers will have an opportunity to apply. The District will send out a bulletin in April outlining the specifics of the application process. A selection committee will be formed to assist with the screening of candidates. This committee can be made up of one (1) teacher from each school site, two administrators and the superintendent. The final recommendation to the Board will be made by the superintendent. The Teacher on Special Assignment would not be responsible for evaluations of certificated personnel. The Association and District mutually agree to evaluate this position and make recommendations for the following school year.
