Common use of Tea Breaks Clause in Contracts

Tea Breaks. In addition to the scheduled meal break, an employee may take one paid 10 minutes “morning or afternoon tea break” if working a minimum of an 8-hour shift.

In addition to Employees shall be allowed two (2) periods of ten (10) minutes each day, before and after the scheduled meal break, an employee may take one paid 10 minutes “for the purpose of taking a tea break at the following times: • Day Workers – 9am and 2pm • Afternoon Workers – 6pm and 9pm Facilities and ingredients (tea, coffee, milk and sugar) shall be provided for employees by the Employer for morning or tea, lunch and afternoon tea break” if working a minimum of an 8-hour shifttea.

These breaks are counted as time worked and taken at a time fixed by the employer provided that the break shall not be granted within one hour of normal commencement or cessation of work or within one hour either side of a meal break, an employee may take one paid 10 minutes “morning or afternoon tea break” if working a minimum of an 8-hour shift.
