Supplementary Unemployment Benefits. 1. Supplementary Unemployment Benefits of $25.00 per week shall be paid for twenty-six (26) weeks during any period of fifty-two (52) weeks to an employee, who has applied for and is in receipt of unemployment insurance benefits, having more than one (1) year of continuous service, and who is temporarily laid off on account of a reduction of forces. The combined weekly payments received from the plan and the weekly rate of unemployment insurance benefits will not exceed 95 percent of the employeesweekly earnings.

Supplementary Unemployment Benefits. The Employer agrees to register a SUB plan as described in Appendix 4 pursuant to Employment Insurance regulations and to make appropriate amendments as may be permitted up to the maximum permitted under the Employment Insurance Act.
Supplementary Unemployment Benefits. The employer will provide supplementary unemployment benefits (top-up) for employees with more than one (1) year of service for periods of time they are in receipt of Employment Insurance Benefits (EI) during the Pregnancy or Parental Leave/Adoption. The top-up of the EI Benefits will be to seventy-five (75%) of the employee’s regular weekly earnings (total of EI Benefits and top-up will not exceed seventy-five (75%) of regular weekly earnings). For Pregnancy Leave, the top-up is for the period the employee was in receipt of EI Benefits to a maximum of fifteen (15) weeks. For Parental Leave/Adoption, the top-up is for a maximum of ten (10) weeks while in receipt of EI Benefits.

This plan allows the Employer to make up the difference between E.I. benefits and 95% of the Employee's regular weekly earnings. The Employee must provide proof that they are in receipt of Employment Insurance Benefits. The application for S.U.B. will be made through Human Resources.
