The hours deposited in the supplemental sick leave bank may be used during any absence caused by a medical condition that would be covered under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The condition must be confirmed in writing by the employee’s treating physician, but the County will not require employees to submit the Health Care Provider Certification required for an FMLA leave. Employees may use the supplemental sick leave bank even if they have exhausted the number of hours available under the limitations of the FMLA during a rolling calendar year. Supplemental Sick Leave Bank. Until December 2, 2000, Employee shall not be entitled to accumulate more than sixty (60) working days of sick leave, including the days earned in the current year of employment. Sick leave accrual shall be prorated for regular part-time Employees. When an Employee transfers to a position with a different number of hours, the Employee's accumulated sick leave shall be prorated up or down proportionate to the change in hours between the old position and the new position. At the beginning of each PTO Program calendar year, each Employee shall receive an amount of hours deposited into his/her supplemental sick leave bank equal to seven-fifths (7/5) of his/her standard weekly hours, as distinguished from any PTO hours earned.
Supplemental Sick Leave Bank. During the term of this Agreement, the District shall maintain a supplemental sick leave bank for “B” Bargaining Unit employees who become disabled and are eligible for Short Term Disability (STD) coverage under the District's STD plan or Worker's Compensation indemnity benefits. The purpose of the supplemental sick leave bank is to attempt to maintain the employee's normal pay check. The amount of the supplemental sick leave benefits available to the employee is based upon the employee's status (40 or 48-Hour per week employee) and length of service with the District. Employees in this unit who qualify for exemption from the FLSA overtime provisions based upon duties and who are assigned to a class or pay grade, if the class has multiple pay grades, with a top step regular biweekly rate, without bonuses, above the top step regular biweekly rate for the class of Shift Superintendent Wastewater Treatment I shall be treated as salaried employees, in accordance with the provisions of the FLSA as identified in Los Angeles Administrative Code section 4.113(b). Salaried employees may be assigned 5/40, 4/10, 9/80 or other schedules at the discretion of Management. This requirement shall be superseded by the revised Department of Labor FLSA regulations pertaining to disciplinary suspensions of FLSA-exempt employees on the operative date of the FLSA regulations. The appointing authority of each City department may grant time off for hours worked due to unusual situations.

  • Retirement Plan Employee shall participate, after meeting eligibility requirements, in any qualified retirement plans and/or welfare plans maintained by the Company during the term of this Agreement.
