Superintendent's Duties. The Superintendent’s duties shall be as prescribed by statute and by Board policies, rules, regulations and directives. The Superintendent agrees to devote his time, skill, labor and attention to his duties throughout the contract term. He shall be subject to the direction and control of the Board at all times and shall perform such administrative duties as the Board assigns to his. By agreement with the Board, he may undertake consultative work, speaking engagements, writing, lecturing, or other professional duties and obligations as long as they do not interfere with carrying out his duties and obligations to the school district.

Superintendent's Duties. Subject to the approval of the Board, the Superintendent shall be responsible for organizing, reorganizing and arranging the administrative and supervisory staff of the district in a manner which best serves the schools of the District. The administration of instruction and business affairs shall be vested in the Superintendent and administered by him with the assistance of his staff. The Superintendent shall be responsible for selecting, placing, and transferring personnel. He shall be responsible for initiating all personnel matters which require action by the Board, including making recommendations to the Board concerning the termination or discharge of any personnel. The Superintendent may undertake speaking engagements, writing, lecturing or other professional duties and obligations for which there is remuneration in excess of reimbursement of expenses and any other consultative work only upon prior approval of the Board, and the Superintendent shall be obligated to use his vacation days as hereinafter described when such activities occur during business hours of the School District.

The duties of the Superintendent as set forth in the BOARD OF EDUCATIONAL POLICY MANUAL shall not be changed during the continuance of the Contract without the consent of the Superintendent by an amendment to this Contract as provided in Section 16 hereof.
