Subject Director for ITE Partnerships. The Subject Director for ITE Partnerships is responsible for growing and nurturing the partnership, developing new opportunities and networks, representing the University in external meetings and bodies and overseeing the work of University Leads for Link Tutors and Mentors, School Experiences and NQTs. 3.1.5 3.1.6 Link Tutors Link tutors support schools and mentors across all programmes as a named tutor for a student teacher. They are responsible for the quality assurance of the student teachers’ experience and ensure consistency of judgement by mentors in those schools. Their main responsibilities before the School Experience (SE) are to: Familiarise themselves with the appropriate SE section of the course documentation folder (autumn term or spring/summer term). Where possible, attend the subject mentor meeting held before the SE where they will meet both the subject mentor and student teacher. Liaise with the student teacher to ensure they have a copy of the initial/development needs audit and also to ensure they are familiar with the student teacher’s targets. Where a student teacher was identified as a cause for concern in a previous placement the link tutor should have a copy of the documentation in order to familiarise themselves with the interventions that have taken place, including strategies in place to support the student teacher and targets identified for the next SE. . There is an action plan proforma to use for students who are causing concern, if necessary and intervention log. To ensure they have a copy of the student teachers timetable for the SE and check that this is appropriate for the stage in their training. Student teachers will normally upload this onto their PDP which link tutors should be given access to. In the first two weeks of school experience the link tutor should: Make initial contact with the professional mentor and subject mentor to introduce themselves as the link tutor (if they haven’t done so already at the subject mentor briefing meeting) Enquire about how the student teacher is settling in/progressing Arrange the date of the first visit Check the mentors have a copy of the Record of School Experience folder and reinforce the point that all documentation and pro formas are accessible via the university website.
