Student Leave. All employees, may apply in writing for a student leave, who attend post-secondary school sixty (60) km or more from their home and/or live in residence. Such employee(s) will maintain their seniority and rate of pay set out in the Collective Agreement. Employee discounts on food and complimentary employee movie passes will be suspended during the approved leave. The student leave will correspond with the post-secondary schedule. Employees who request this leave must be available for work during Christmas holidays, spring break and summer holidays, unless otherwise approved to remain off at the sole discretion of the general manager and/or his/her designate. If the employee does not return during these periods they will deemed to have resigned their role effective the first day of their expected return. All student leave requests and returns from approved leave must be received thirty (30) calendar days in advance of the leave beginning or ending. A maximum of six (6) employees will be approved annually for this leave. Employees who are granted this leave, will also be granted the leave for all future requests while they are in school and will count toward the maximum allotment of six (6) employees approved annually. All student leaves will be granted based on employee seniority. Such leave will not be unreasonable denied.

If the employee does not return during these periods, they will be deemed to have resigned their role effective the first day of their expected return. All student leave requests and returns from approved leave must be received thirty (30) calendar days in advance of the leave beginning or ending. The employer will be required to grant approval for up to 5% of all employees (rounding up) to a maximum of six (6) employees annually for student leave. For purposes of clarity, if Strawberry Hill has 100 employees, the Employer will be required to grant student leave approval for up to 5 employees. If Strawberry Hill has 50 employees, the Employer will be required to grant student leave approval for up to 3 employees. Employees who are granted this leave, will also be granted the leave for all future requests while they are in school and will count toward the maximum allotment of employees approved annually. All student leaves will be granted based on employee seniority. Such leave will not be unreasonable denied.
Student Leave. The Employer agrees that students with one (1) year seniority may be granted a leave of absence without pay for the summer vacation period to take a full-time job with another employer, provided no full-time job exists with the Employer and provided that this request is submitted seven (7) days before the desired leave of absence. Senior employees shall be given preference in the granting of such leave and shall not be unreasonably withheld.

  • Reservist Leave If an employee is a reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces they will be entitled to reservist leave in accordance with the ESA and while on such leave the employee will retain their accrued seniority.

  • Industrial Accident Leave 5.8.1 Unit Members will be entitled to industrial accident leave according to the provision in Education Code Section 87787 for personal injury which has qualified for Worker's Compensation under the provisions of the State Compensation Insurance Fund.

  • Intermittent Leave If medically necessary due to the serious medical condition of the employee, or that of the employee's spouse, child, parent, registered domestic partner within the meaning of Minneapolis Code of Ordinances Chapter 142, or other dependents and/or members of their households who have a serious medical condition, leave may be taken on an intermittent schedule. In cases of the birth, adoption or xxxxxx placement of a child, family and medical leave may be taken intermittently only when expressly approved by the Employer.

  • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave. In the event of a delayed interment or ceremony for reason of religion or other protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, an Employee may save one of the days identified above without loss of pay to attend the interment or ceremony.

  • Paid Bereavement Leave 12.19.1 An Employee shall be granted a minimum of five (5) regularly scheduled consecutive work days, without loss of pay or benefits, in the case of death or serious illness of the Employee's spouse or common-law spouse.

  • Education Leave (a) If required by the Employer, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications.

  • Employment Relations Education Leave ‌ The Employer shall grant leave on pay for employees party to this MECA to attend courses authorised by NZNO to facilitate the employee’s education and training as employee representatives in the workplace. The numbers of days education leave granted is based on the formula of 35 days per annum for the first 280 full time equivalent employees (employees covered by this MECA who have authorised the NZNO to act on their behalf) and a further five days per annum for every 100 full time equivalent employees thereafter.   • Professional Development Leave A. Policy. Professional development leave shall be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below. Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.

  • Paid Education Leave The Company agrees to pay into a special fund, one (1¢) cent per hour per employee for all compensated hours for the purpose of providing paid education leave. Such leave will be for upgrading the employee skills in all aspects of trade union functions.   • Bereavement Leave With Pay For the purpose of this Article, immediate family is defined as father, mother (or alternatively step-father, step-mother or xxxxxx parent), brother, sister, spouse (including common-law partner residing with the employee), child (including child of common-law partner), step-child or xxxx of the employee, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, or mother-in-law, and any relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides.
