Stewards’ Authority. A. The authority of the Unit President or alternates so designated by the Union shall be limited to, and shall not exceed, the following duties and activities: (1) The investigation and presentation of grievances in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement. (2) The transmission of such messages and information, which shall originate with, and are authorized by, the Local Union or its officers, provided such messages and information (a) have been reduced to writing, or (b) if not reduced to writing, are of a routine nature and do not involve work stoppages, slow downs, refusal to handle goods, or any other interference with the Company's business. (3) The Company shall compensate the Unit President or his designee to do Union business a maximum ten (10) hours per week, of which, the Union agrees to provide ample notice to the Company as to the day and time(s) the Unit President seeks to use as Union business. The Union agrees to work with the Company in scheduling such time as to avoid interference with the operation and further, the Union agrees to work with the Company, when necessary, to ensure coverage for the Unit President’s absence, if required. (4) The Company shall provide office in the plant for the Union’s use.
