Common use of Smoke Detectors Clause in Contracts

Smoke Detectors. In an effort to discourage the removal of smoke detector batteries, it is agreed that in the event that a smoke detector is found without a battery during the tenancy, a new one will be in- stalled, and Tenant will be charged a fifteen-dollar ($15.00) fee to cover labor. Tenant may, upon presentment at Landlord's office, ex- change a battery with a low charge for a new battery at no cost.
