22.2 34.01 (a) Skilled Trades for the purpose of this Agreement shall be as follows: Electrician Electrician (Electronics) Millwright/Machine Repairer Lead Hands (Skilled Trades) (b) In the event of the introduction of new classifications of Skilled Trades, the Company will notify the Union of same, and in the event of disagreement the Union will have the right to take same through the Grievance Procedure.
34.02 Seniority in the skilled trades Skilled Trades Department shall be by non-interchangeable classifications occupation or trades within a department or group of departments. Seniority lists shall be by department. Departments shall be defined as the Tool Room and Maintenance. Future employees entering a basic trades or classification.
(a) Employees presently working under classification or trade group listed under Clause 34.01 (as of 1st of February, 1969) shall have their total seniority from in their date of entry in the skilled tradetrade classification or group.
(b) Future employees entering the trades classification or group shall have date of entry seniority in the skilled trades as listed under Clause 34.01.
34.04 (a) Production workers will not carry seniority into the trades or classifications listed under Clause 34.01 nor will skilled trades workers exercise seniority into in production or non-production groups except where a classification or trade listed under 34.01 is discontinued or eliminated. .
(i) Such employee will then exercise their his/her total Company seniority for the purpose of displacing a junior employee in the classification or trade for which they are he/she is qualified, or shall exercise all of their his/her Company seniority in the general production production, or non-production groups under the Collective this Agreement.
(c) Apprentices will have seniority from their date of entry in the skilled trade upon completion of their apprenticeship. Upon completion of his/her apprenticeship program, each member will be accrued by total years of service for pension and vacation entitlement at the applicable rate.

SKILLED TRADES. 22.1 19.01 The purpose of this Skilled Trades Clause shall be for defining seniority provisions of the Collective Agreement shall apply to and working conditions in all commonly recognized skilled trades classifications.
19.02 All employees in the skilled trades classifications except as altered by are subject to the provisions of this articlethe collective agreement, except as otherwise specifically covered in these Skilled Trades Clauses.
22.2 (a) Seniority 19.03 Skilled trades, for the purpose of this agreement, shall be those trades and classifications listed below: Millwright
19.04 Employees presently working in the trades listed in 19.03 above, (as of July 15th, 1980) shall have their total plant seniority credited and will be placed on a skilled trades seniority list in order. Seniority shall be by non-interchangeable classifications within trades in the event of layoff and recall. At other times, skilled trades may be interchangeable. However, a department or group Journeyperson changing from one trade to another will have date of departments. Seniority shall be by department. Departments shall be defined as entry seniority only, in the Tool Room and Maintenance. trade to which they transfer.
19.05 Future employees entering a classification or trade shall have seniority from their date of entry seniority in the skilled tradetrades as listed in 19.03 above.

22.2 (a) 1. It is understood that in the Skilled Trades Divisions, a department or non- interchangeable occupational group contains only one classification.
2. When qualified Journeypersons, who have not previously established seniority in a Skilled Trades group, are transferred from an occupational group other than Skilled Trades into a Skilled Trades group they will have a date of departmentsentry seniority status in the Skilled Trades group as of the date of transfer (except as provided in Appendix A of the National Agreement).
3. Seniority A Journeyperson transferred from one Skilled Trades classification to another in which they do not have a date of entry, shall be by department. Departments shall be defined as the Tool Room and Maintenance. Future employees entering establish a classification or trade shall have seniority from their date of entry in the skilled trade.
(b) Production workers will not carry seniority into new classification as of the trades or classifications listed nor will skilled trades workers exercise seniority into production or non-production groups except where a classification or trade listed is discontinued or eliminateddate of transfer. Such employee will then exercise their total Company shall retain and accumulate seniority for the purpose of displacing a junior employee in the classification or trade for from which they were transferred. All provisions of this paragraph are qualified, or shall exercise all subject to Appendix A of their Company seniority in the general production or nonUAW-production groups under the Collective GM National Agreement.

In the event of a laypermanent reduction-off, any Skilled Trades member temporarily accommodated in in-force within a non-skilled interchangeable occupational group, it is the intention of this Agreement to retain the employee with the greater seniority who is capable of doing the job. Accordingly, Management will:
a. Establish the number of employees to be retained in each non-interchangeable occupational group within each Division.
b. Retain the employees with the greater seniority on jobs which they are capable of doing in their non-interchangeable occupational group within each Division.
c. Employees reduced from a Division who have seniority to hold their classification in another Division will be retained at work, and will be placed on jobs that they are capable of doing, displacing the least senior employee in their classification.
d. Employees retained at work in their classification in another Division may apply to return to their department.former Division within five

15.03 Employees presently working under classification or group listed under Article 15.01 of the Agreement shall be defined as the Tool Room and Maintenancehave their total seniority in their trade classification or group. Future employees entering a the trades classification or trade group shall have seniority from their date of entry seniority in the skilled tradetrades as listed under Article 15.01, except in the case of apprentices whose seniority is covered in the apprenticeship agreement. A successful applicant (from a non-skilled group) of a job posting into a skilled trades classification will have as his date of entry seniority the date the posting went up.

(c) Apprentices will have seniority from their date of entry in the skilled trade upon completion of their apprenticeship. Upon completion of his/her apprenticeship program, each member will be accrued by total years of service for pension and vacation entitlement at the applicable rate.

(f2) Should a skilled trades employee become medically ▇▇▇▇▇ unfit and unable to follow their his skilled trade trade, both the Employer Company and the Union will cooperate co- operate in endeavoring endeavouring to place such an employee on a job which the employee he is capable of performing in accordance with Article 8.19 and taking their he will carry his total plant-wide seniority to such job. In the event that an employee removed from a skilled trades classification is subsequently cleared to return to such classification, he will be returned with themno loss of seniority provided he exercises such election within fourteen (14) days of his receipt of medical clearance.
15.05 The term ‘journeyman” as used in this Agreement shall mean any person:
a) Who holds a journeyman’s classification in a skilled trades occupation, or
b) Who has served a bona-tide apprenticeship of four (4) years - 8,000 hours (9,000 hours for Electrician/Electronics, Construction and Maintenance) and holds a certificate which substantiates his claim of such service, or
c) Who has eight (8) years of practical experience in the skilled trades classification in which he claims journeyman’s designation and can prove same, or
d) Who holds a CAW-UAW Journeyman’s Card, or
e) Who holds an Ontario License, certificate of qualification, or certificate of Apprenticeship issued by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities Apprenticeship Branch, provided he/she qualifies under (b) and (c) above.
f) Before hiring the Company will provide the Union with the basis of its determination under this section including a review of any data used in such determination such as evidence of apprenticeship or any other qualifying data. The skilled trades Committeeperson will be present during such review. However, a fifteen (15) day grace period will be granted if placed necessary, or longer if agreed to by the parties but in no event will the extension exceed the employee’s probationary period.
15.06 Any further employment in the skilled trades occupations, after the signing of this Agreement, shall be limited to journeyman and apprentices, except as provided in Article 15.07.
1) During any period when journeymen are unavailable it is agreed that non-journeymen employees whose duties shall be to supplement the duties of a journeyman, may be hired or transferred on a temporary basis into a skilled trades classification, and shall be known as supplemental employees.
2) The opportunity to work as a supplemental employee shall be offered first to seniority employees with present and adaptable skills, second to any laid-off employee with seniority who has the present ability or an adaptable skill to do the work. If there are no laid-off employees eligible, new employees may be hired on a temporary basis.
3) When a journeyman becomes available, either by hire, transfer, or graduation of any apprentice in a nonskilled classification to which a supplemental employee has been assigned, such journeyman will replace the supplemental employee who shall then be laid-skilled classification, the off or returned to his original department.
4) A supplemental employee shall then forfeit not accumulate seniority within the skilled trades classification but shall accumulate plant-wide seniority and may exercise such plant-wide seniority to return to his former job or to apply for vacancies in the plant as provided elsewhere in this Agreement.
5) Supplemental employees shall receive ten cents ($.10) per hour below journeyman’s rate of the classification or trade.
6) Supplemental employees shall not be permitted to work overtime until all rights the employees in the trade or classification being supplemented are given the first opportunity.
7) A supplemental employee will have seniority in respect to other supplemental employees assigned to a given classification.
8) When an employee is transferred or hired as a supplemental employee he will be identified by the Company to the skilled trades Committeeperson prior to starting work within the skilled trades, except in the case of temporary accommodation. In the event of a lay-off, any Skilled Trades member temporarily accommodated in a non-skilled classification will return to their department.
