SKILLED TRADES. 33.01 Skilled Trades for the purpose of this agreement shall be those trades and classifications working in either Maintenance or Electrical occupational groups listed below: 33.02 The term “Journeyperson” as used in this agreement shall mean any person who presently holds a Journeyperson classification or equivalent in a skilled trades occupation in the Maintenance classification as listed below: 33.03 When an opening occurs in the Journeyperson classification, entrance will be limited to those individuals who: a) Presently hold a Journeyperson certificate in a skilled trades occupation as listed in paragraph 33.02 b) Have worked a minimum of eight (8) years at the trade with a CAW Journeyperson card. a) Seniority in the skilled trades shall be by occupational groups; as per the skilled trades seniority. The Maintenance is one group and Electrical is another. b) Employees entering a trade shall have date of entry in the skilled trade’s classifications as listed in Article 33.02. c) ▇▇▇▇▇▇ and recall within skilled trades will be by occupational group as outlined in Article 33.04 d) The apprentices will exercise their seniority within their occupational group. (For example: If there are four apprentices in the electrical group and a reduction in this number is required, the person with the highest seniority from the date of entry into the apprenticeship group will be the last laid off and shall be the first to be reinstated.) An apprentice will exercise their relative plant seniority at the time of layoff from the apprenticeship. Upon satisfactory completion of the Apprenticeship Program, the apprentice will obtain skilled trades seniority as of the starting date of the apprenticeship, minus any time spent on layoff or in production due to exercising bumping rights as a result of layoff. Accumulation of production seniority is frozen and excludes time served in the apprenticeship. Employees who enter the Apprenticeship Training Program shall retain their relative plant seniority until such time as they obtain a Certificate of Apprenticeship. Apprentices are required to obtain their Certificate of Qualification within one year of completing their Certificate of Apprenticeship. In exceptional cases, this time period may be extended with Company and Union agreement. Failure to obtain their Certificate of Qualification within one year will result in the employee exercising their production seniority into the production classifications. e) In the event of a layoff in the skilled trades, Article 33.09 (a) will not apply. Therefore, apprentices will be laid off prior to Journeyperson within the applicable occupational group.

In no event will these provisions contravene the Human Rights Code. 33.02 29.06 The term “Journeyperson” 'journeyman' as used in this agreement Article shall mean any person who person: (a) Who presently holds a Journeyperson classification or equivalent is in a skilled trades occupation classification; or (b) Who has served a bona fide apprenticeship and has a certificate which substantiates his/her claim of such service; or (c) Who has had eight (8) years of practical experience and can prove same with proper affidavits. In the case of initial installations of new equipment, Article 33.09processes, technology and warranty work, the Company will involve a minimum of one (1) skilled trades employee of each affected trade with the supplier's on-site personnel for training purposes. 29.10 (1) The Company and Union recognize the importance of the following principles: (ai) The Company recognizes the Union's desire to perform all Skilled Trades work covered under the jurisdiction of this contract except as amended below. (ii) The Company will not applyuse subcontracting as a method of eliminating overtime for Skilled Trade employees (iii) The parties recognize that where the Company meets its obligations as set forth in Article 29 (including overtime opportunities), there shall be no additional responsibility on the part of the Company to pay additional overtime to any other employee. ThereforeHowever, apprentices will be laid off prior where it is alleged that the Company has not met its obligations under Article 29, the employee concerned and/or Union shall have the right to Journeyperson within seek redress under the applicable occupational groupgrievance procedure.

(For example: If there are four apprentices in the electrical group and a reduction in this number is required, the person with the highest seniority from the his/her actual date of entry into the apprenticeship group skilled trades department once he/she has received recognition as a licensed journey person within their core trade. 25.02 The Company agrees to deduct the sum of one-half (1/2) hour per year as dues to the CAW Skilled Trades Council, from employees hired, rehired, reinstated or transferred to a skilled trades classification or trade as listed upon receipt of individual authorization cards signed by such employees. Such deductions shall be made at the same time as regular union dues and thereafter on an annual basis in the month of January. These deductions, along with the names of the employees shall be remitted to the financial secretary of the CAW Local 504. 25.03 All Maintenance employees will be offered registration in a second trade after being with the last laid off Company and shall be licensed for a period of one (1) year. In the first event this arrangement contravenes the law, the law will apply. The Company reserves the right to be reinstatedlimit the number of apprentices away at school but will not withhold permission unreasonably. 25.04 Production workers will not carry seniority into skilled trades classification, nor will skilled trades workers exercise seniority into production or non-production groups in cases of layoff. 25.05 Each person employed in a trade (tradesperson or apprentice) An apprentice will exercise their relative plant seniority at provide the time of layoff from the apprenticeship. Upon satisfactory completion company with an up-to-date inventory of the Apprenticeship Program, the apprentice will obtain skilled trades seniority as tools normally stored on Company property. This inventory of the starting date tools is to provide the Company’s insurer with background data in case of major loss or theft while the apprenticeship, minus any time spent tools are on layoff or in production due to exercising bumping rights as a result of layoff. The Company shall assist employees who are required by the Company to attend training programs at approved Institutions off the premises and outside their normal working hours. The employee shall be reimbursed for tuition, texts as prescribed by the course and transportation when he has completed and passedthe training program. Reduction and Recall When reducing work, the junior employee in the affected classification shall be laid off first and additional employees, if required, shall be laid off in reverse seniority. When reducing forces, the junior in the affected classification shall be at least ten (10) days prior to Journeyperson within the applicable occupational groupeffective date. The displaced employee may exercise his seniority in another classificationother than his own and thereby displace that junior employee, provided he has sufficient qualifications, skill and ability to perform the work. SKILLED TRADES. 33.01 Skilled Trades for 25.01 For the purpose of this agreement shall article, an employee’s seniority date into their core skilled trades classification will be those his/her actual date of entry into the skilled trades and classifications working in either Maintenance department once he/she has received recognition as a licensed journey person within their core trade. 25.02 The Company agrees to deduct the sum of one-half (1/2) hour per year as dues to the CAW Skilled Trades Council, from employees hired, rehired, reinstated or Electrical occupational groups listed below: 33.02 The term “Journeyperson” as used in this agreement shall mean any person who presently holds a Journeyperson classification or equivalent in transferred to a skilled trades occupation classification or trade as listed upon receipt of individual authorization cards signed by such employees. These deductions, along with the names of the employees shall be remitted to the financial secretary of the CAW Local 397. 25.03 All Maintenance classification as listed below:employees will be offered registration in a second trade after being with the Company and licensed for a period of one (1) year. The Company reserves the right to limit the number of apprentices away at school but will not withhold permission unreasonably. 33.03 When an opening occurs in the Journeyperson 25.04 Production workers will not carry seniority into skilled trades classification, entrance nor will skilled trades workers exercise seniority into production or non-production groups in cases of layoff. 25.05 Each person employed in a trade (tradesperson or apprentice) will provide the company with an up-to-date inventory of the tools normally stored on Company property. This inventory of the tools is to provide the Company’s insurer with background data in case of major loss or theft while the tools are on Company property. 25.06 In the event of a layoff, probationary tradespersons will be limited laid off first, first ticket apprentices next, then journeypersons all in reverse order of seniority in their core trade. (f) In the event of the disqualification of an apprentice, he/she will be allowed, one time only, to displace a production employee, provided that such apprentice was originally a production employee and in accordance with Article 14 of this Agreement. 29.08 In the event that there is an increase in any skilled trade classification, recall shall be made in reverse order of seniority, commencing with journeyperson, then maintenance helper then apprentices. 29.09 In the event the Company acquires new technology in machinery or equipment that would call for special servicing by skilled trades employees, it is agreed that the skilled tradestrades employees will be trained so that they may become familiar with the necessary repair and maintenance techniques required. In the case of initial installations of new equipment, Article 33.09processes, technology and warranty work, the Company will involve a minimum of one (a1) skilled trades employee of each affected trade with the supplier's on-site personnel for training purposes. 29.10 (1) The Company and Union recognize the importance of the following principles: (i) The Company recognizes the Union's desire to perform all Skilled Trades work covered under the jurisdiction of this contract except as amended below. (ii) The Company will not applyuse subcontracting as a method of eliminating overtime for Skilled Trade employees (iii) The parties recognize that where the Company meets its obligations as set forth in Article 29 (including overtime opportunities), there shall be no additional responsibility on the part of the Company to pay additional overtime to any other employee. ThereforeHowever, apprentices where it is alleged that the Company has not met its obligations under Article 29, the employee concerned and/or Union shall have the right to seek redress under the grievance procedure. (2) In contracting out work which is normally performed by the skilled trades employees, the Company will consider such factors as specialized skills and equipment, economics, available equipment, available manpower and time constraints. The Company will not contract out regular maintenance work if the skilled trades employees (including apprentices) are scheduled for layoff or are laid off, unless those employees elect not to be working. Except where time and circumstances prevent it, the Company will advise the Union's skilled trades representative, in writing at least one (1) week in advance, the nature of the work and the reasons for contracting out such work. The Company will give due consideration to the Union's recommendations before making its final decision as to whether or not such work will be laid off prior contracted out. (The Union retains the right to Journeyperson grieve such final decision). Where the Company agrees to involve skilled trades employees in such work, it is mutually agreed and understood that employee vacations, refusal to work overtime and unexpected skilled trades workloads, will relieve the Company of its obligation to involve some or all of the skilled trades employees scheduled to work. In such cases, the Company may choose to use the services of outside contractors as required to complete the project as scheduled. It is further agreed and understood that where the Company has determined that the skilled trades will not be involved in a project due to availability of manpower and subsequently circumstances change such that manpower becomes available, then the Company will offer such work as may be appropriate to the skilled trades employees. In the event that an employee removed from a skilled trades clas- sification is subsequently cleared to return to such classification, he/she will be returned with no loss of seniority provided he/she exercises such election within fourteen days of receipt of medical clearance. When a journeyman/woman becomes available, either by hire, transfer, or graduation of any apprentice in a skilled clas- sification to which a supplemental employee has been assigned, such journeyman/woman will replace the supple- mental employee who shall then be laid-off or to A supplemental employee shall not accumulate seniority within the skilled trades occupation classification but shall accumulate plant-wide seniority and may exercise such plant-wide sen- iority to return to his/her former job or to apply for vacancies in the plant as listed provided elsewhere in paragraph 33.02 b) Have worked a minimum this Agreement. Supplemental employees shall not be permitted to work over- time until all the employees in the trade with or classification being supplemented are given the first opportunity. A supplemental employee will have seniority in respect to other supplemental employees assigned to a CAW Journeyperson cardgiven classifica- tion. When an employee is transferred or hired as a supplemental employee he/she will be identified by the Company to the skilled trades Committeeperson prior to starting work within the skilled trades. In the event of an increase or decrease in force in any skilled trades classification as designated in Article the following procedure shall apply. a) Seniority in the Supplemental employees will be first laid-off from their skilled trades shall classification, to be followed by occupational groups; as per the probationary employees. If any further employees are to be laid-off from any skilled trades seniority. Failure to obtain their Certificate of Qualification within one year will result in the employee exercising their production seniority into the production classificationsarticle. ea) In the event the Company may acquire some advanced type of machinery or equipment that would call for special servicing by an employee of the appropriate skilled trade, it is agreed that sufficient employees will be given the advantages of tak- ing instruction as may be needed, by any method as deter- mined by the Company, so that the employee may become familiar with the necessary repair and maintenance techniques required. Such training will involve no loss of pay to any employee. When a layoff in machinery breakdown occurs and loss of produc- tion is imminent, skilled trades employees will work through rest or lunch periods to correct the breakdown. When the breakdown has been corrected the employee will receive his/her complete rest or lunch period. There shall be numerical or alphabetical classifications within the skilled trades. The Company agrees to deduct dues as may be by the Canadian Region Skilled Trades Council from the skilled trades journeymen/women and apprentices. S u c h deductions shall be made at the same time as the regular union dues and thereafter on an annual basis in the month of January. These deductions along with the names of the employees shall be remitted to the Financial Secretary of the Local Union. The Company agrees that past practice of shift preference by seniority will remain in effect as per a separate memorandum of agreement which forms part of this Collective Agreement. The Company will provide four pair of coveralls or shop coats per week (employees’ preference) to all Skilled Tradesmen. In addition to this, Article 33.09the Company will, upon request, continue to supply coveralls to employees who may be assigned to dirty, greasy jobs. (a) The Company will repair or replace damaged or broken tools that are turned in to the Company provided is no negli- gence or abuse on the part of the seniority employee and pro- vided has been complied with. The Company shall, upon request, provide a form to be filled out in triplicate for the purpose of recording tools of employ- ees. The employee shall be responsible for ensuring that this form is properly filled out including all additional tools that may be acquired in the future. The employee shall retain one copy of the list, and one copy shall be given to the Skilled Trades Committeeperson and the Company. The Company that in order to operate a world class operation they must keep up with technological changes and advancements. Therefore the Company agrees to rotation and training of Skilled Trades within the plant. The Company that it is in the best interest of the Skilled Trades to have with all aspects of machinery, tooling and automation, therefore employees will be rotated not more than every six months upon request, after they are assigned to an area. This will not applypreclude the Company from moving a Trades person to balance the three month shift agreements. ThereforeFor the purpose of this agreement, apprentices the areas shall be Press Shop, Assembly, Anchor, and Toolroom. When Trades are reassigned within a department, this will not be deemed part of the rotation through area assignments. The Apprenticeship Agreement is a separate document and is part of this Collective Agreement. The Company will supply special tools and measuring instruments to the Skilled Trades employees. As the need arises, the above will be laid off prior replaced or supplemented with metric sizes. In a reasonable period of time following the signing of the Collective Agreement, the Company agrees that Skilled Tradesmen will be given the opportunity to Journeyperson within purchase new tools through the applicable occupational groupCompany at wholesale prices.
