Common use of Sick Leave Compensation Clause in Contracts

Sick Leave Compensation. If, at the end of the last payroll period of any calendar year, an employee has a balance of more than one thousand two hundred and eighty five (1285) hours of accrued but unused sick leave, the hours in excess of one thousand two hundred eighty five (1285) will be converted into a cash payment. Each employee who has accumulated more than one thousand two hundred eighty five (1285) hours will be paid a sum equal to one hour worked, at the employee's regular straight time rate, for every three (3) hours accumulated in excess of one thousand two hundred eighty five (1285) hours. Upon retirement, an employee's sick leave balance will be converted into cash payment. Each employee will be paid according to the following schedule:
