Sick Leave Absences. Sick leave with pay shall be allowed by the School District whenever a teacher’s absence is found to have been due to illness and/or disability, which prevented his/her attendance at school and performance of duties on that day or days. Sick leave may be used by an employee to care for his/her ill child, spouse or parent. Sick leave may also be used for medical appointments.

Sick Leave Absences. Part-time employees who elected status quo and remained in the sick leave plan will be entitled to payment from their accumulated sick leave credits for hours in accordance with the sick leave article. Sick Leave Absences. A. An employee, other than an Emergency Service Dispatcher, who fails to report for duty due to personal illness or injury may be required to submit a written report from his/her physician, which shall include a statement of the nature of the illness and a statement as to whether or not the employee was sufficiently ill to justify absence. Such written report shall not be unreasonably requested. In the event of failure to submit proof of illness within 48 hours of the request of the department head, such absences shall be considered as unauthorized leave and the employee shall not be paid for such absence and such absence shall not be charged against accumulated sick leave credits.

  • Sick Leave Abuse ‌ When the Employer suspects sick leave abuse, the employee will be provided the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding their sick leave use prior to disciplining the employee, or making reference to sick leave use in the employee’s performance evaluation. The Employer may not adopt or enforce any policy that counts the use of paid sick leave time as an absence that may lead to or result in disciplinary action for an authorized purpose. The Employer may not discriminate or retaliate against an employee for the use of paid sick leave for an authorized purpose.

  • Sick Leave The employee is eligible for long term disability benefits if provided for in the Collective Agreement. An employee will not receive pay for the first two (2) weeks of any period of absence due to a legitimate illness. The employee may utilize the paid holiday bank as income replacement for absences due to illness, as described in Article (c) above. An employee who is eligible may apply for Employment Insurance for weeks three (3) through seventeen (17) for any absence due to a legitimate illness.   • Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.
