Short Term Independent Study. ‌ No unit member shall be required to submit work for a student on Independent Study. A unit may volunteer to submit work for a student on short term independent study. Short term is defined as five (5) to ten (10) work days. This is not to be confused with the District’s formal Independent Study Program in grades 9-12.

Short Term Independent Study. (STIS) The District and Association shall create a one-year Committee to develop recommendations related to short-term independent study requests. The Committee shall consist of a majority of VTA unit members. The Committee shall report progress to the District and VTA Bargaining Teams by February 1, 2018. Short Term Independent Study. 3.14.1 Teachers in a self-contained classroom shall be paid at a rate of 2.5 hours for each five-day week of an IS agreement during which they prepare and grade student IS work (broken down to 0.5 hours per day). If the student does not do and turn in the assigned work, the teacher shall be paid at a rate of 1.25 hours for each five-day week (broken down to 0.25 hours per day).   • Short Term Leave Members who are LTD trustees and Union stewards or designates may apply in writing to the Employer for short term leaves of absence for; attendance at union conventions, union courses, and union committees. The employee will give reasonable notice, which will be at least seven (7) days. The Employer will make every reasonable effort to accommodate such leave, and shall grant it subject to the ability to maintain the operational needs of the department.
