Short Term Disability. 19.8.2.1 Short-term disability refers to ongoing absence due to illness, injury, or hospitalization, which prevents the faculty member from performing his/her duties. Faculty qualify for short-term disability as of the first (1st) day of hospitalization or accident or the eighth (8th) day of illness. For those who qualify, short-term disability benefits may extend for a period of up to seventeen weeks with the provision of satisfactory medical evidence from a duly qualified medical practitioner.
