Short Term Absences. Short term absences on compassionate grounds, either with or without loss of pay, may be granted at the sole discretion of the Superintendent or designate.
Short Term Absences. Payment for short-term absences (e.g., vacation, sick leave) will be based on the normal rate paid for scheduled job hours, except as stated elsewhere in this Agreement.
Short Term Absences. 1. Personal Days Teachers will be entitled to three (3) days personal leave with pay per year for the conduct of personal matters which cannot be conducted at a time when school is not in session. (a) Requests for three consecutive personal days or personal days used immediately prior to or immediately following a school holiday or vacation must be made in writing to the Superintendent or their designee at least seven working days before the date requested and must specify the reason for the requested leave. This Article XVIII: Extended Leaves of Absence requirement may be waived by the Superintendent or their designee in the case of an emergency. (b) Unused personal days will accumulate without limitation and be added as sick days to a teacher’s personal illness days.
Short Term Absences. Employees who are absent due to illness, injury, jury duty or other circumstances beyond the employees’ control must notify the appropriate building administrator at his/her site as soon as is reasonably possible. Stipended employees who are absent five (5) days or less for any of the reasons above, shall not have their stipend reduced as a result of the absence, but will be expected to make up the time lost. Stipended employees absent longer than five (5) days shall make alternative arrangements with the building administrator who will consult with the head coach and District’s Athletic Director to complete their employment obligation. Absences for any other reasons must be approved by the designated site administrator in advance of the absence.
Short Term Absences. Employees who replace others because of a short-term absence such as normal sick leave and vacation time shall be compensated at the out-of-class rate for any time beyond two (2) normal work weeks.
Short Term Absences. Employees who need to be absent from work due to illness, or other bona fide personal needs, shall use accrued paid leave, or may make up the time if mutually agreeable with the supervisor. If the employee does not have accrued leave available, Leave Without Pay may be taken on a short-term basis in accordance with administrative procedure.
Short Term Absences. At the beginning of each Fall or Spring semester or Summer term, the Department Chair will designate, with the approval of the VPAA/appropriate ▇▇▇▇, a full- time faculty member or members from his or her department to perform routine day-to-day duties in the event that the Department Chair is unavailable due to short term absences (not to exceed two weeks).
Short Term Absences. 1 (a) For prescheduled short term absences of 1-27 days, the vacant shifts will be divided up and offered to RPT employees in the classification within the department to a maximum of 48 hours per pay period (subject to availability within their existing RPT shift schedule). Any excess hours will be offered to qualified casual staff up to 48 hours per pay. In the event that casual staff does not accept those available excess hours, or if available excess hours would bring the casual staff beyond 48 hours in a pay period, the remaining hours will then be offered to qualified RPT staff within the classification within the department (up to 75 hours per pay), and if still unsuccessful, then to qualified casual within the classification within the department up to 75 hours per pay.
Short Term Absences. Employees who are absent from work for a portion of the workday or work shift shall under no circumstances suffer any loss of income by reason of such an absence. In the event an employee has exhausted all credited vacation leave, management leave, and accrued compensatory time, a short-term absence as defined above will be covered by advancing management leave the employee would be entitled to use in the following year. If a short-term absence is occasioned by illness or non-occupational injury and the employee has exhausted all credited sick leave, vacation leave, management leave, and accrued compensatory time, the absence shall be covered by an advance of management leave as herein provided. The amount of management leave used in advance shall be sufficient to prevent any income loss and amounts so advanced shall be deducted from the employee's management leave for the following year. Advances will continue to be made as necessary for the purpose of this section even though they may exceed the amount of management leave the employee is entitled to use in the following year. In such instances deductions of advanced leave amounts shall be made in subsequent years. Any "negative" management leave balance which may exist upon termination of employment shall be forgiven. For the purpose of this Section, management leave shall be provided to those employees who are not otherwise qualified to receive it in order to avoid income loss by reason of short-term absences. The maximum amount of Management Leave that can be advanced is one hundred and sixty (160) hours within any ten (10) year period. This provision is only available to regular employees who have satisfactory performance and who have worked for the City of Hayward for at least five (5) years. Advancement of leave must be approved by the City Manager.
Short Term Absences. Teachers will be entitled to the following temporary leaves of absence with pay each school year: 1. Each teacher shall be entitled, each year during his/her regular employment period, to be absent, without loss of pay or other benefits, from scheduled work for three (3) days, in increments of full or half days only, for the purpose of taking care of personal or family emergencies or responsibilities or religious holidays. A teacher planning to use a personal day shall notify the Building Principal as far in advance as is possible. Unless an emergency should arise, teachers will fill out the request form in duplicate, but will not have to explain the reason for absence beyond the indication in which of two categories the leave will be taken. One copy will be kept by the Building Principal, and the other will be returned to the teacher, signed by the Building Principal, within twenty-four hours. A maximum of four teachers in each the elementary school, and Jr/Sr high school may use a personal day immediately before or after any break of more than three calendar days. Personal leave days shall not be deducted from accumulated sick leave, but unused personal days shall be added to accumulated sick leave. 2. The teacher who is the primary care giver will be allowed up to thirty days from accrued sick or personal leave for purposes of attending to the adoption of his/her child. A teacher planning to use workdays for this purpose shall notify the Building Principal in writing as far in advance as possible. If two spouses are employed by the District, the maximum benefit between both is limited to thirty days. Leaves for adoption purposes may only be taken at the time of the adoption. 3. Time for the purpose of observing other school programs is not to be deducted from accumulated sick days or personal days of any teacher. 4. Time necessary for one Groton Faculty Association delegate to attend the NYSUT Representative Assembly. 5. Time necessary for appearances in any legal proceeding connected with the teacher's employment or with the school system or in any other legal proceeding if the teacher is required by a law to attend. 6. A total of five (5) days in any one school year for each event of death in the immediate family of the teacher or the teacher's spouse (parent, grandparent, grandchild, wife, husband, child, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister- in-law, brother-in-law, or member of the immediate household), or the death of an immediate ...
