Common use of Shop Stewards Recognition Clause in Contracts

Shop Stewards Recognition. It is recognized that Shop Stewards may be elected or appointed by the Union from time to time and the Employer will be kept informed by the Union of such appointments or elections. The Employer agrees to recognize Shop Stewards and Alternate Shop Stewards for the purpose of overseeing the terms of the Collective Agreement being implemented and for the purpose of presenting complaints and Grievances to designated Management of the store. Shop Stewards may introduce new members to the Union on their own time to present membership cards for signature. The Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and, in the absence of the Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, another member of the Bargaining Unit of the employee's choice shall be present when a member of the Bargaining Unit: (i) Is given a reprimand, which is to be entered on the employee's personnel file. (ii) Is suspended or discharged.
