Shop Stewards Recognition. It is recognized that Shop Stewards may be elected or appointed by the Union from time to time and the Employer will be kept informed by the Union of such appointments or elections. Transfers shall not be used to discriminate against Shop Stewards. The Employer agrees to recognize Shop Stewards and Alternate Shop Stewards for the purpose of overseeing the terms of the Collective Agreement being implemented and for the purpose of presenting complaints and grievances to designated management of the store. Shop Stewards may introduce new members to the Union on their own time, to present membership cards for signature. The Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and in the absence of the Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ another member of the Bargaining Unit of the employee's choice, shall be present when a member of the Bargaining Unit: i. Is given a reprimand which is to be entered on the employee's personnel file. ii. Is suspended or discharged. When a Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ is investigating a grievance or a complaint on Company time, the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ must first obtain permission from his/her immediate Supervisor or the Store Manager. Such permission will not be unreasonably denied. The Company agrees to recognize Union Shop Stewards on the following basis: 1. Where there are less than fifty (50) employees in a store - a minimum of one (1) Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. 2. In stores where there are fifty (50) or more employees in the store - two (2) Shop Stewards and one (1) additional Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ for every fifty (50) employees thereafter. 3. Alternate Shop Stewards will be recognized in the store when the Shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ is absent. The Union shall inform the Employer in writing of the Alternate Shop Stewards.
