Severe Weather. It is recognized that, on occasion, severe weather may make it difficult for employees to get to work at their normal starting time. In such cases, the employee is responsible for notifying their supervisor that they will likely be late due to weather conditions or that they will be unable to report for work due to weather conditions. Employees absent due to severe weather or leaving early will be required to select from one of the choices below to cover the missed time. This includes road closures due to weather. Procedure: Employees must advise their supervisor and reconcile time missed due to severe weather by using one of the following options if available: 1. Lieu time 2. Vacation time 3. Incidental time (sick) 4. Any other banked time available. Bank entitlements must be used first, but if none of the above options are available, the time may be taken as an unpaid leave of absence.
