Service Eligibility. In order to be considered for sabbatical leave, a faculty unit member must have rendered service in a full-time contract or regular academic position at the District for at least six consecutive years immediately preceding the sabbatical leave. A leave of absence, except a sabbatical leave, does not count as a break in continuity of service for purposes of sabbatical leave consideration. However, any such absence will not be included as service except as stated in Education Code Section 87769.
