SECTION HOURS OF WORK. Subject to the exigencies of the Service, the normal work week for all members of the Service shall be forty (40) hours, comprised of five (5) days of eight (8) hours each, inclusive of lunch time and relief periods, as in accordance with the procedure now in effect. Days off shall, insofar as reasonable and practical, be consecutive.
SECTION HOURS OF WORK. The General Booking of Transportation Operations Division employees shall take place four (4) times a year or more frequently if the City deems it necessary. The General Booking of Equipment Division employees shall take place two (2) times a year or more frequently if the City deems it necessary. Subject to the Booking Sheets, eighty (80) hours in a two (2) week pay period shall constitute the normal working hours. When overtime work is required, the City agrees to make every effort to arrange all overtime by seniority. All employees shall be available for emergency work whenever called for: emergency work being deemed to be such work as is not reasonably foreseeable. Employees shall not be obliged to work in excess of eight (8) hours during one day unless rates are paid as prescribed by this Agreement. Booked operators who voluntarily select additional work over and above their normal day’s work are required to continue such work for the remainder of the Booking or until satisfactory arrangements have been made with the Transportation Operations Division for such operator to be relieved of such work. Payments for standby time for spare operators, make-up time, pay-through time and allowances do not constitute work performed. They will not be included in the calculation of entitlement for overtime or days off unless specifically provided for elsewhere in this Agreement.

SECTION HOURS OF WORK. The normal basic work week for regular full-time employees shall be thirty-seven hours per week, to be worked in five (5) shifts scheduled by management as follows: four shifts of eight (8) hours each and one shift of five OR (2) two (2) shifts of eight hours each and three (3) shifts of seven (7) hours each. With the exception of the meal period, a full-time employee's shift for the day shall be comprised of consecutive hours of work. In a week in which one General Holiday occurs, the basic work week for full-time employees shall be twenty-nine and one- half (29%) hours. In a week in which the Company observes two (2) General Holidays, the basic work week for full-time employees shall be twenty-two and one-half hours. Full-time employees will not be required to work more than two nights per week, when the store is open for night shopping, unless they are willing to do so. Employees shall have a minimum of ten (10) hours off between scheduled shifts, unless otherwise mutually agreed between the Company and the employee.

It is understood that the five (5) days of eight (8) consecutive hours each week, inclusive of lunch, shall be deemed to be the hours of work for each member for the stipulated salary as listed in Schedule Notwithstanding Section and the hours of work for Uniform Patrol personnel working a Compressed Work schedule shall be as set out in Schedule Further the normal start times shall be as set out in this Schedule. (revised 1999) The start time for members on the shift as set out in Schedule may be changed to one or two hours earlier or later at the discretion of the Administration. Such changes may be for the whole thirty-five (35) day schedule and the schedule shall be posted ten days prior to the commencement of the schedule. Such amended start times shall only be applicable to a maximum of four (4) constables per shift. Notwithstanding, other start times may be agreed upon between the Association and the Administration. (new 1999) The hours of work for Investigation Services personnel working a Compressed Work schedule shall be as set out in Schedule Further the normal start times shall be as set out in this Schedule. SECTION HOURS OF WORK. It is agreed that the nature of the Company’s business is such that its customers can demand service on a 24-hour basis, days per week. The payroll week shall commence Sunday, am and continue for seven consecutive 24-hour periods ending Saturday, The regular workweek is hours averaged over a complete cycle. Regular employees shall be advised as far in advanced as practical of any changes in the work schedule. It is the right of the Company to establish and classifications to their requirements. Every effort shall be made to do so in a manner satisfactory to the employees. The Company shall consult the Association Executive at least days prior to implementing the change. The assignment of an employee to a shift shall be made by the Company. Insofar as practical, consideration will be given to the Association seniority of the individuals affected. If the employee requests a change in scheduled shift, the Company shall comply if practical. Scheduled Sunday shifts may be implemented the term of this agreement after posting the available shifts and departmental openings. When an employee is given less than hours notice of change in scheduled or working day, the employee shall be paid time and one half for the first day of the new or for the rescheduled day. an employee shall report for work on a regularly scheduled and services shall not be required through no fault of the employee or due to a change in schedule of which employee is not notified, the employee shall receive a minimum of hours pay. All employees assigned to a regular shift on Sunday shall be paid at the rate of times their regular hourly wages. This shall not apply to standby shifts. SECTION HOURS OF WORK. Employees who report for work in any week, Monday through Friday, will be subject to the following provisions Commencing April the standard guarantee work for ninety percent (90%) of the hourly rated employees in the Maintenance operations will be forty (40) hours per week, and eight (8) hours per day The guarantee for the remaining hourly rated employees shall be eight (8) hours. It is furthermore mutually agreed that: any hourly rated employee performing work on Saturday or Sunday will receive a guarantee of four (4) hours work and the eight (8) hour guarantee, shall not apply. Overtime rates at time and one-half of the rate of pay will be paid for all hours in excess of eight (8) hours in any one (I) day, and/or forty (40) hours in any one (1) week. Where a Statutory Holiday falls during the work week, Monday to Friday, the work week will be reduced by eight (8) hours for each Holiday. Where the Company has overtime work to performed, such work shall be allocated to qualified personnel, in the following manner: to the senior available employee on duty who is willing to perform such work; when no one is available under or in the event additional personnel is required, employees will be called in, in order of seniority. employees on shift will not exceed four
SECTION HOURS OF WORK. An employee who works thirty-seven (37) hours per week for thirteen (13) consecutive weeks shall qualify as a full-time employee, but such employee will be subject to Section of this Agreement. This provision shall not apply to Students or other employees hired for a specific project or group of assignments. The basic work week for full-time employees will be thirty-seven (37) hours per week as scheduled by management, but all shifts will be full hours or one-half hour periods. In a week in which one (1) statutory holiday occurs, the normal basic work week for full-timeemployees shall be twenty-nine (29) hours. In the event the Company observes two (2) statutory holidays in one week, full- time employees shall receive thirty-seven (37) hours pay for twenty-two (22) hours during that week. The Company will endeavour to schedule one (1) of the employee's or combinations to coincide with the employee's vacation once per year provided it does not interfere with the efficient operation of the business and provided the employee advises the Company in writing at least one (1) month before the commencement of his vacation. The Company will schedule full-time employees two (2) consecutive days off or once every four (4) weeks, except in the week of a statutory holiday, so that employees involved receive an equal number of and combinations off. Should an employee prefer to have some other days off at the time he or she would normally be scheduled two (2) days off, as set out above, the employee shall advise the Company by Thursday noon of the preceding week and in such event, the employee will forfeit his or her two (2) consecutive days off in that four week period. The Company shall post a weekly full-time schedule and a weekly part-time schedule in ink not later than Thursday, of each week for the following week. If the new schedule is not posted by Thursday, then the schedule already posted shall apply for the following week. The Company has the right to call in other part-time employees not previously scheduled to work if required by the business. The schedule of employees working full-time may be changed without notice in the event of an unscheduled absence of employees or in the event of emergencies, such as a snowstorm, flood, breakdown of machinery, or other instances of force majeure. In all other cases, at least forty-eight (48) hours notice of change must be given, or four hours additional pay in lieu of notice. The foregoing shall not apply to employees ...
