Section Bereavement Pay. In the event of a death in the employee's immediate family father, mother, wife, husband, son, daughter, sister, brother, aunt. uncle, xxxxx, nephew step-parents, step-children, grandparents, grandchildren, in-law), an employee shall be given the necessary time off and will be paid three (3) days pay at the applicable rate providing that the period between the day of death and the funeral are working days. If more time is required for any reason relating to the death, a leave of absence will be granted.

Full-time and part-time employees averaging twenty-four (24) hours or more per week in the four (4) weeks preceding the bereavement, may be granted time off from work, with pay, to a maximum of three consecutive scheduled work days, in the event of death in the immediate family. The term "immediate family" shall mean spouse, common-law spouse, parent, step-parent, child, step-child, brother or sister, mother or father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandchildren and grandparents. If more time is required for any reason relating to the death, a leave of absence will be granted, Section Jury Duty Pay If an employee called and is required to serve on jury duty or as a crown witness on his normal working day, the Company agrees to pay eight hours' pay per day at the regular rate of pay, less the amount of jury duty or crown witness pay received.
Section Bereavement Pay. When death occurs in the employee’s immediate family, a seniority employee, on request, will be excused, and after making written application therefor, receive payment for the number normally scheduled eight hour days of work as indicated below (including scheduled Saturdays (exclusive of overtime premium) but excluding non scheduled Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) within the ten calendar day period immediately following the date of death, provided the employee attends the funeral.

In the event of the death of the spouse (including common-law spouse as per Company definition), child, mother or father, sister or brother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparents, spouse’s grandparents, grandchildren, or verified reasonable substitution agreed to by the Company, of any employee covered by this Agreement, such employee will be granted an excused absence of three consecutive working shifts at base of pay exclusive of all premiums, shift differential or overtime allowance. In addition, an employee will be granted bereavement leave for a stillborn child if the employee provides a certificate of fetal death which has been certified by the Province. Bereavement leave must be taken within seven calendar days following the death, funeral or service. An employee must attend the funeral or service to be eligible for the payment provided in this Article ARTICLE NEW TECHNOLOGY AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT SECTION Technology Change. The Company and the Union agree that it is to their mutual benefit and a sound economic and social goal to the most efficient machines, processes, methods and/or materials. This is part of the process of continuous quality improvement, which enhances the Company’s ability to compete effectively in the marketplace and, thereby, the negative impact on job security. It is the Company’s policy to assure that training is available for its employees so that they may have the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills required by the introduction of technological change.

Section Personnel an with an accident after starting .incapacitating him from carrying out duties, he shall be paid one (1) days pay fox the day of his injury (highway are to receive ten hours pay and hourly rated employees are to receive eight hours pay) providing he is not receiving Compensation pay for that day. The Company also agrees to supply service to hospital or physicians services in cases of serious injury that necessitate8 the need and in minor cases the Company shall also supply suitable transportation to the above-mentioned services and thence to the employee's residence.
Section Bereavement Pay. After six months of employment, employees shall be granted time off from work, with pay, to a maximum of three (3) consecutive scheduled work days, in the event of death in the immediate family. The term shall mean spouse, parent, child, brother or sister, mother- or father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparents, common law spouse, stepparents, stepchild and grandchild. One day off, with pay, will be granted to an employee in the event of the death of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew or grandparent-in-law. Employees shall not be required to attend the funeral in order to receive bereavement leave. The Company shall provide one day off without pay, to a person who attends a funeral of a person who is not a member of the employee's immediate family.
