Section 9.5. Maternity Leave. 11 Upon application therefore, the District shall grant maternity leave. Such leave shall commence at 12 such time as the employee and her physician deem necessary. Employees granted maternity leave must 13 return to work not later than one (1) year following the granting of the maternity leave. Employees 14 granted maternity leave may, at their option, be allowed compensation for maternity leave in 15 accordance with Section 9.1. Before returning to work the employee must be certified by her physician 16 as ready and able to return.
