Section 9.2. Bereavement Leave. 5 Each employee shall be entitled to a maximum of five (5) days leave with pay per occurrence for 6 absence caused by the death of an employee’s immediate family member. For the purposes of this 7 section, immediate family shall mean spouse, domestic partner, parent, stepparent, mother-in-law, 8 father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandparent, grandchildren sibling, or those of the 9 employee’s spouse, or a person living in the same household as the employee. The District shall grant 11 or step-relations and one (1) day per occurrence of bereavement leave in cases involving friends, 12 students or colleagues. Bereavement leave shall not be deducted from sick leave. Bereavement leave is 13 non-cumulative. Additional bereavement leave may be granted with superintendent approval as 14 emergency leave and deducted from sick leave.
