Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave. 34 All employees shall be granted bereavement leave with pay, on a per occurrence basis, as follows:

Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave. 14 Up to three (3) days of paid leave shall be granted per occurrence for bereavement of a household 15 member or relative. Such leave is noncumulative and shall not be deducted from sick leave. Written 16 requests for additional paid bereavement leave days must be approved by the superintendent. In the 17 event of death of a significant friend, up to three days may be used and will be deducted from the 18 employee’s sick leave.
Section 8.2. Bereavement Leave. ‌ 31 Up to five (5) days shall be granted with pay for bereavement of a member of the employee’s 32 immediate family per occurrence. Immediate family shall be defined as: parent, parent-in-law, spouse, 33 sibling, or child. Such leave may be taken in increments. This category of bereavement leave is not 34 deductible from sick leave. Bereavement leave is noncumulative. Exception to this provision may be 35 granted by Superintendent action. Requests for an exception should be submitted in writing to the 36 District Office. 37 38 Emergency leave may be used with bereavement leave. Emergency leave, when used with 39 bereavement leave, will be deducted from sick leave.

Such leave for serious illness shall be deducted from sick leave. At 46 the discretion of the District, sick leave may be used to care for a family member, not specified in this 47 section, who has a serious health condition. Such bereavement leave shall not be deducted from sick 48 leave. Bereavement leave is noncumulative.
