Section 8.1.1. Unworked Holidays. 35 Eligible employees shall receive pay equal to their normal work shift at their base rate in effect at 36 the time the holiday occurs. Employees who are on the active payroll on the holiday and have 37 worked both their last scheduled shift preceding the holiday and their first scheduled shift 38 succeeding the holiday, and are not on leave of absence shall be eligible for pay for such 39 unworked holiday. An exception to this requirement will occur if employees can furnish proof 40 satisfactory to the District that because of illness or on approved absence they were unable to work 41 on either of such shifts, and the absence previous to such holiday, by reason of such illness, has 42 not been longer than thirty (30) regular workdays.
