The only exceptions to this provision shall be in the case of an emergency as determined solely by management; or of a reassignment from one area of service to another area of service which has been initiated by the nurse. Employees of the County may propose alternative work schedules to their immediate supervisor or to management staff. These alternative schedules shall show how employee needs and client services can be maintained. Implementation of employee proposed alternative work schedules shall be after a sideletter agreement is reached between CNA and the Labor Relations Division.

Scheduling. Each Annual leave shall begin accruing the first day of employment. During the probationary period, an employee is not eligible to receive compensation from the annual leave account. Upon satisfactory completion of the required probationary period, an employee shall be eligible to take any annual leave which has accrued. All annual leave must be scheduled in advance in accordance with hospital policies and be approved by supervision. The Employer shall have the right to schedule annual leave in such a way as will least interfere with patient care and work schedule load requirements of the hospital. Patient care needs will take precedence over individual requests. Generally annual leave may not be taken in increments of less than the employee’s regular work day. Under special circumstances and only when approved by supervision, partial days may be, granted. Vacation scheduling procedures shall cover be a proper subject for the Staffing Committee. It is not the responsibility of the employee to find coverage for approved annual leave. The following guidelines shall apply to scheduling of annual leave: 1. Staff should clearly identify a vacation request to the Manager by designating the period of time the individual wishes to not be scheduled. 2. From Thanksgiving through New Year, vacations will not be inclusive of more than one major (defined) holiday. 3. Non-peak period vacation requests must be submitted in accordance with the Scheduling Calendar. 4. Requests to use annual leave will not be denied on the basis of insufficient accrual at the time of the request, provided the employee can be reasonably expected to have accrued sufficient annual leave by the time it is to be taken, and further provided that the employee must actually have the accrued leave at the time the vacation is taken. 5. Peak vacation periods for the purpose of this procedure are May 31 through September 15 and November 15 through January 2. Peak period vacation requests will follow the schedule below: a. May 31 through September 15 requests must be submitted in writing by February 15 for the current calendar year and will be approved and posted by March 15. Vacation requests will be approved on a seniority basis if there are no conflicting requests. In the event there are conflicting requests, then the same vacation period may not be granted to the same person annually so that equitable access exists in obtaining vacation time. b. November 15 through January 2 vacation requests submitted in writing by October 1 will be approved and posted by October 15. Vacation requests will be approved on a seniority basis if there are no conflicting requests. If there are conflicting requests, then the same vacation period may not be granted to the same person annually so that equitable access exists in obtaining vacation time. Annual leave granted during holidays shall be in conjunction with the holiday rotation. All requests during peak periods will be held until the dates outlined above. Requests will then be evaluated by the Manager (or designee).During peak vacation periods, no more than (2-3) calendar weeks of annual leave will be granted dependent on departmental needs. Prime time vacations of three (3) consecutive weeks will not be granted in the same season two (2) weeksyears in a row. (d) There shall be a minimum of sixteen (16) hours off between the conclusion of a scheduled shift and the start of the nurse’s next scheduled shift unless expressly waived by the nurse. (e) A weekend is defined as being fifty-six (56) scheduled hours off during the period following the completion of the employee's Friday shift until the commencement of the employee's Monday shift. (f) Requests for a change of scheduled working hours must be submitted in writing and co-signed by the employee willing to exchange shifts. The request for such change shall be subject to approval by the manager which shall not be unreasonably withheld. i) Full-time nurses shall be scheduled every second [2nd] weekend off, unless agreed to otherwise. ii) Part-time nurses will be scheduled every second [2nd] weekend off every other week unless agreed to otherwise. Existing modified permanent work week schedules shall not be changed without advance notice to for purposes of calculating the Association maximum number of employees permitted off at the same time. In the event there is an open overtime shift and the opportunity to meet and confer on any proposed change. Every effort shall be made to adhere to posted work schedules. Except in instances of voluntary change no one is available for the convenience of the nurse, overtime shift or cases of emergency, as determined solely by management, changes in scheduled calendar work days and/or scheduled calendar days off shall require a minimum of seven (7) full calendar days advance notice. The only exceptions to this provision shall be in the case of an emergency as determined solely by management; or a last minute call off, the Shift Lieutenant shall mandate someone from the off going on duty crew to hold over to cover the shift. The employee with the lowest number of a reassignment from overtime hours will be mandated. If more than one area of service (1) employee have equally low overtime hours, the least senior will be mandated. This procedure shall be followed for each opening that is required to another area of service which has been initiated by be filled. An employee may be mandated to report back to work for the nursenight shift if needed. Employees However, if continued attempts to find coverage are successful that person will be notified they are no longer mandated to return for the second half of the County shift. An employee who is mandated to work may propose alternative work schedules attempt to their immediate supervisor find coverage and “give away” all or to management staffpart of the shift. These alternative schedules shall show how employee needs and client services can be maintained. Implementation of employee proposed alternative work schedules No person shall be after mandated to work if doing so will put them over 48 hours of consecutive work time. No person coming off 48 hours of consecutive work time shall be mandated during the following 24 hour period. No person working a sideletter agreement trade, overtime shift or who has 24 hrs. scheduled off on their next shift shall be mandated for the open shift. Section 4 Overtime is reached between CNA not guaranteed. If overtime is requested and filled and then if that overtime is no longer needed it may be cancelled and the Labor Relations Divisiontime will be rescinded. The person who was filling the overtime will be placed back on the overtime list at the top of the list. Every attempt will be made to find a replacement overtime slot for the person affected.

Scheduling. (a) The employer will provide the weekend off prior to the commencement of vacation and at the completion of vacation for one (1) vacation period during the period of July 1st to Labour Day and one additional period. The nurse will indicate at the time of her/his vacation request which vacation she/he wishes to commence with a weekend. (b) The hospital will endeavour to accommodate the wishes of nurses with respect to their choice of vacation dates, subject to the needs of the hospital and the terms of the collective agreement. The hospital will post by February 1st a vacation planner for the period of May 1st to April 30th , in each unit. Each work schedule nurse employed in the unit should indicate prior to the last weekday of February her/his preference for that vacation period, in the event of conflict seniority shall cover govern. The vacation request shall be confirmed by April 15th. (c) At the time the vacation schedule/planner is posted in each unit, the Hospital will ensure that vacation quotas for full-time and part-time nurses applicable to each unit are also posted for each period of time covered by the vacation schedule/planner. The vacation quotas indicated on the schedule/planner will represent the maximum number of nurses that will be granted confirmed vacation by the vacation confirmation deadline of April 15th for a given period. (d) Such vacation quotas shall be based on the operational needs of the hospital and shall not be unreasonably restrictive. Vacation quotas will be communicated in the form of the number of full-time and part-time nurses, respectively, to be granted time off in each unit at any given time during the twelve month (12) period to be covered by the vacation schedule/planner. It is agreed that during the Christmas and New Year’s season (as referred to in the Collective Agreement) the quota may be reduced on a particular unit due to operational needs of that unit. (e) Nothing restricts the right of management to consider and/or grant additional vacation requests beyond the published quotas after the April 15th vacation confirmation deadline (f) Nurses who requested vacation on the vacation schedule/planner but whose request were not granted on April 15th. on the account of the quotas established for their units will be given priority for any further vacation that may be granted for the dates requested after the April 15th. deadline unless they specifically request that their manager remove them from consideration. Requests made on the vacation schedule/planner will be considered on the basis of seniority. Any vacation requests received after the posting period shall be considered after those that were made on the vacation schedule/planner (and not otherwise withdrawn) shall be considered on a “first come first serve” basis. (g) If requested, the Employer will grant the maximum of two (2) weeks. Scheduling. Each work schedule ‌ (1) Employees shall, whenever possible, request time off in advance by at least fifty percent (50%) of the requested time off. Use of such leave must be scheduled between the employee and the COUNTY. When an employee is sick or an emergency occurs requiring their presence elsewhere, the employee must notify their supervisor as soon as possible. Substantiation of illness, injury, or emergency may be required by the COUNTY when a pattern of excessive use of time management without prior supervisor approval interfering with operations has been documented. (c) At least sixteen (16) hours time off shall be scheduled between shifts of duty, and at least thirty- two (32) hours time off shall be scheduled following night duty. Employees Where only one (1) night shift is worked, only twenty-four (24) hours time off shall be scheduled. A shorter period of time between changes of shift may be scheduled by mutual consent. (d) The Home will schedule each Nurse four (4) weekends off in eight (8). A Nurse shall receive premium pay for all hours worked on a fourth (4th) consecutive weekend and all subsequent consecutive weekends, except where: i) such weekend work or part thereof has been worked by the Nurse to satisfy specific days off requested by such Nurse; or ii) such Nurse has requested scheduled weekend work only; or iii) such weekend or part thereof is worked as the result of an exchange of shifts with another Nurse. The Home shall not cancel the pre-booked weekend shifts on a fourth (4th) weekend that becomes a premium pay weekend as a result of coming in on previous weekends off. (e) A Nurse may be required to rotate all of the County may propose alternative work schedules to their immediate supervisor or to management staff. Where scheduling permits some Nurses to be off both Christmas and New Year's, the scheduling of both holidays off shall be done by rotating seniority among all full-time and part-time Nurses in the Home. Where the Nurse requests to have five (5) days off at either Christmas or New year's in order to facilitate such request the provisions of Schedule B – 2 shall be waived during the period from December 15th to January 15th. Scheduling. Each 16.01 The following provisions are intended to designate normal hours of work schedule on a daily tour and normal hours of work over the schedule. Scheduling. Each ‌ (a) In order to protect the public health, safety and welfare, employees of the Police Department are required to work those hours or days as directed by the Chief of Police in an order, regulation, or directive issued by the Chief of Police, verbally or in writing, at their regular rate of pay and regardless of whether said workdays fall on holidays, subject to the provisions of Article 6, herein. In addition, for the purpose of determining leave days in the application of Article 6, all agency commanders, or their designee, shall post leave schedules in the designated area, or electronically to all affected members no less than ten (10) calendar days prior to the start of the scheduling period. An employee’s scheduled starting time will be enumerated on his/her monthly schedule. (b) Once the monthly schedule has been posted as required by subparagraph (a) of this section, all scheduled leave on the posted schedule shall cover be designated as "Regular Leave L", and all additional leave selected by the member shall be designated as “regular leave L2.” All leave approved after the schedule is posted shall be designated as an “optional leave day.” (c) Additional leave selected as regularly scheduled leave L2 under subsection (b) shall be designated on the schedule as L2. Section 6.6 shall continue to apply to L2 leave which is cancelled due to a period required court appearance. (d) Nothing in this section shall alter the current practice of permitting officers to select additional leave days prior to posting of the schedule required in subsection (a). Scheduling. Scheduling. Each 16.01 In Housekeeping, Laundry, Maintenance and Gift Shop, the Employer shall post work schedules by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, subject to unforeseen circumstances occurring, in which case the schedule shall cover be posted no later than noon on Thursday, for the week commencing the following Sunday. 16.02 Employees may exchange shifts provided it is mutually agreed between bargaining unit members and the Supervisor. Scheduling. The Personnel Department manages the Spare Lists for the whole mill. Each work department communicates its needs for the following week on every Tuesday and a schedule shall cover is done accordingly. The employees not receiving all their shifts at the time remain “on call” during the week to fill in if a period need arises. There will be established vacation groups, including designated relief. Vacancies will be filled by the designated relief within each of the groups, “vacancies” being defined as Vacation, Floating Holidays, Blocked Rest Days, and Statutory Holidays. Spare List employees outside of the vacation groupings will not displace the designated relief. The schedule will be posted every Thursday afternoon for the following Sunday to Saturday and is subject to change on a daily basis. The Personnel Officer will make every effort to inform the employee of any changes in his schedule, but the employee is also responsible to check his schedule. Employees on the Spare List are considered as permanent employees and their service is not interrupted by the fact that they are not receiving shifts unless they are laid off. A list of available employees and listed phone numbers will be provided to the Personnel Officers on a weekly basis subject to change on a daily basis. Phone numbers will not be posted. The employees will be listed by seniority. All pre-scheduled days will be shown. The Personnel Officer will call the next available qualified employee on the list by seniority. Scheduling. 706 Should it be necessary in the interest of efficient operations to establish schedules departing from the normal workweek, the Employer and Union, at the request of either, may confer to determine whether based upon the facts of the situation, mutually satisfactory modified schedules can be arranged. However, the final right to arrange working schedules rests with the Employer in order to avoid adversely affecting the efficiency of operations. 707 The Employer will determine the starting time of the daily and weekly work schedules, and such schedules may be changed by the Employer from time to time to suit varying conditions. These schedules must provide for the staffing level required by management in each nursing post involved without incurring additional staffing costs through overtime, additional personnel, call-backs, etc. Each work schedule shall clearly set forth assigned working times for all employees. Schedules shall include: a. A minimum of one (1) Saturday/Sunday weekend off every other week shall be provided. b. Any agreed-upon flexible or “non-standard” working hours. c. Split shifts Employees shall not be scheduled unless mutually agreed upon. d. Existing modified permanent work week schedules shall not be changed without advance notice to the Association and the opportunity to meet and confer on any proposed change. If the full advance notice required herein cannot be given, each nurse rescheduled to work any day with less more than seven (7) full calendar consecutive days noticeexcept for emergencies as covered under the Hospital’s and or Department’s Emergency/Disaster Plan.
